Ongoing talks would say Norwich aren't quite at the point yet where they can get it called off.

Quick, someone crock another of their players.

Probably just a 'lazy' term to say they've requested it but not had a decision? We've seen it before with ourselves and Everton where there's a request, it gets denied, then a few hours or the next day there's another request and then it's off.

I just hope fans of both clubs get enough notice. There should be a reasonable cut-off in any circumstance. If the game's at 3pm on Saturday, the latest it can be called off is 12pm for example, or dependent on the average travel time for the away club/fans.

Probably because despite Tuchel's moaning they only have about 6 players missing from a squad of 25 £50m players.

Yes I really couldn’t see that they had that many missing last night.

10 out means they have 15 players. Get on with it.

They may not have declared a squad of 25

the covid reduction to seven days  isolation helps

reckon this is 50/50 at the moment

They did only name 18 in their squad, but that doesn't include the under 21 players the regularly use like Max Aarons, Billy Gilmour, Adam Idah, Ozan Kabak, Josh Sargent, Christos Tzolis, Brandon Williams, and Andrew Omobamidele.

And that makes up to 26, no reason they can't add some youth players to the bench if it's tight, we've had to utilise the youth team and name a couple of the bench.

What does this actually mean? Is there an official definition of this anywhere?

Currently, unless there injuries/illnesses we don't know about we don't fit the necessary criteria to call this off as we have 15 outfield players from the original 25 man squad available, though this does include Benkovic. However, once the AFCON trio leave we would only have 12 as things currently stand. Think I've done the maths right.

No idea how Norwich are doing.

I find the definitions in the Football League Trophy rules to be interesting in that regard, both for the senior squads playing in the League 1 and League 2 teams and the U23 squads for the Premier League teams.

For the senior teams:

7.3 Each EFL Club shall play its Full Available Strength in and during all Matches.
Guidance
‘Full Available Strength’ means the EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying
Players in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet.
7.4 Qualifying Player means any Player who:
7.4.1 had started the immediately preceding First Team Fixture (as defined below);
7.4.2 subsequently starts the immediately following First Team Fixture;
7.4.3 is in the list of ten Players at the Club with the highest number of starting
appearances in First Team Fixtures in the same Season;
7.4.4 has made forty or more starting appearances in First Team Fixtures or
international equivalents (and not limited to the same Club or Season); or
7.4.5 is on standard loan from a Premier League Club or any EFL Club operating a
Category One Academy.
7.5 First Team Fixture means the League Competition, Premier League, EFL Cup or FA
Challenge Cup (but shall, in the context of Rules 7.4.3 and 7.4.4 only, also include this
Competition).

And for the U23 teams:

7.8 Each Invited Club must ensure that in each Match:

7.8.1 at least six of the starting eleven players named on the Team Sheet are players who were aged under 21 as at the 30th June in the year in which the Season concerned commenced; and

7.8.2 no more than two players who: (i) are aged 21 or over; and (ii) have made 40 or more appearances in a First Team Fixture (either in the starting elven or as a playing substitute) in each case as at the 30th June in the year in which the Season concerned, shall be named on the Team Sheet.

7.9 A Player sent out on a Temporary Loan Transfer (or Temporary Transfer where a Premier League Club) but who remains eligible to participate in non-first team football for his parent club (which would include Premier League 2 matches) will not be eligible to participate in this Competition (on the basis that it is a first team competition) unless otherwise permitted by Rule 7.2.2.

I doubt the Premier League has such hard and fast rules (and I doubt they would be so strict -- 10 starts or 40 appearances!), but my guess is an "appropriately experienced" u21 player who has regularly appeared in the first team -- so Luke Thomas is "appropriately experienced" but McAteer is not. The question mark would be on Daley-Campbell.

It should be called off at least 1 day before. No game should be called off on matchday.

I agree, at least 24 hours notice needs to be given for cancellation of a fixture. If it goes beyond that then the game goes ahead.

Can’t see it going ahead. How many games have gone ahead after a Request to postpone?

Both Everton and Chelsea have had requests to postpone games rejected.

Everton's was accepted against Burnley. Don't think they've requested any more.
