Try to get 7 or 8 points before the Randers first leg and we can concentrate solely on the FA Cup and ECL. We're gonna have to play a mixture of U23s and a second string side for a few games, we'll probably get thumped but it is what it is.

It doesn’t catch us up as still need to fit the Chelsea game in as well! According to the premier league website we have 4 games to catch up! Mental

That can play later can’t it. As a fan I’m up for a game every 3 days for 3 months but we need to get busy in the market this month if that’s the case

This catches us up doesn’t it? Is it even possible?

Everton Jan 26

Norwich Jan 29

Burnley Feb 2nd

It’d kill the squad, mind.

Doubt we'll play Everton. They have Richarlison and Allan going to Brazil. Even if 1 of them is called up they don't have to play in the break.

Isn't that why we called our games off?

So what was the point?

Bizarre logic. (Not aiming that at you, aiming it at the club the decision makers)

Think we only wanted Spurs and Everton off didn't we? None of the rest, but Spurs was gonna get called off anyway as Spurs didn't have enough players.

But yeah, I agree, we're gonna have to sacrifice something at some point, I'd have definitely played the Everton game. I can only think they think we'll be in a better position towards the end of the season, no AFCON and less injuries, JJ and Fofana back etc.

Yet the argument I hear is that clubs should get on with it when players are at the AFCON.

As we've said, everyone is in it for themselves.

Is it something to do with Afcon specifically being arranged mid-season and clubs are aware, whereas this international break a) isn't usually there and b) this is rearranged games being talked about as opposed to planned games during Afcon...?

They may be grey, but that's why I'm puzzled as to why you keep claiming a club has to have a Covid case for a postponement to be considered. The rules state that injuries are a valid reason for a postponement.

Does it matter if a club has never managed to call a game off before because of injuries? There's a first time for everything.

You say 'double down,' but I'd just say Covid's just mentioned again, which is hardly surprising.

I interpreted the statement yesterday as being made to reconfirm the situation ref covid being central to any postponement requests. Not the only consideration but the central requirement.

as I said, there were no instances in the past of long injury lists meaning that cancellations were accepted. I can’t accept that there wasn’t a situation of that ilk in the past 30 years.

the issue I’ve also highlighted today is how easy it is to create covid considerations and therefore to rule out players who aren’t actually unavailable for covid reasons but to make them appear to be to justify the request.

Spurs had enough players - they requested the postponement to allow them to play Rennes in the ecl - but the PL rejected that.

So no games over the "winter break". If we were to go deep in Europe and FA Cup we have about 2 spare midweeks to play a minimum of 4 catch up games.

I would be annoyed if cup competitions suffer. Play the U23s in the PL if it comes to that.

Has anything been said about games being rearranged for 29th January weekend ?

Take it there’s not enough time to give notice for it now

FIFA  did say games could be played but players have to be released for International duty so guess clubs have been put off.

Premier League seem to want to keep it as a type of winter break.

No games set to be scheduled for then.

It’s inevitable, if we progress in Europe, we’ll have to play two games in one midweek. I really hope Burnley is pre 31 March as I have leave to take, so will keep my ticket even if midweek

If we go past Forest and Randers then there will be no space to play a PL catch up game before April at the earliest.

Am i right in thinking that it’s just the South American national teams playing in the final weekend in Jan?

Surely us against Burnley could be rearranged for then, both teams have had a ‘winter break’ of sorts already and neither have any South American players.

Could have been but I assume clubs didn't want to as PL have said no games to be rearranged.

You see, where you've gone wrong with that suggestion Glenny is that it is COMMON SENSE.
