We will have a raft injuries throughout Rodgers’ tenure matter what. This rearrangement is bad, but could be worse. At least both of the opposition have injuries, covid and shocking form to deal with. Rather than in March/April when they could be firing on all cylinders. In March/April we will still have a load of injuries

Injuries and afcon will play a factor. Us v Norwich and soton v Newcastle got called off due to a hybrid of injuries and covid. Likewise Liverpool mentioned afcon in their appeal to her todays game called off. The rule is you need 13 fit outfield players available.

Is that without covid cases/isolating players ?  my understanding was that this ruling is purely down to covid disruption

I don’t recall games being postponed in the past for squad injury issues unless it was goalkeeper related …..

as I said, we may have a chance on the back of the AFCON absentees but because we were responsible for the first two postponements, I doubt we’ll get a good outcome to any appeal. We have U23 players to bring in.

Season feels like a write off in all honesty. You just know it'll force us into rushing Evans back and he'll end up out for an extended period. Seen it all before.

Everton have bad form but their injury list is easing fast.

spurs aren’t affected by injuries or covid are they ?

Yeh, covid is the factor most highlighted now as it’s prevalent. If you don’t have 13 fit players you don’t play. Hence Norwich and Newcastle’s successful appeal to cancel their weekend games.

I also think the two games will go ahead, but as per my subsequent post above I don’t think it’s the worst thing in the world. Something is chronically wrong with Rodgers’ methods r.e number of injuries, we are becoming like the Arsenal of old

Actually you’re right. Just noticed Everton and spurs are easing off on the injury front and DCL played 90 mins on the weekend. Ok…change my optimistic projection to playing these games on Jan solely down to the fact both teams are sh1t!!!

We have only 10 fit and available outfield players, 1 is a centre half and zero are strikers. It's absolutely horrifying. Saturdays team is going to be one of the worst you will have ever seen from a top flight Leicester team that's not purposefully picking a pony team.

Another postponement?

I just do not understand why they have not canned international friendlies off and utilized these weekends to rearrange the games. It is so frustrating and seems incredibly unfair that teams will have to rush players back from injury to field a respectable eleven.

I think we're already there.

Should have just played the original dates. Sure we are worse off as a squad now.

We can't even rotate.

At least with the cup games, Spurs are also playing a lot of football and they have to go full strength.

I say let the players go to as many darts matches...football matches....concerts as they like....we can just get these stupid PL rearranged fixtures pushed further down the line

True, just annoying that PL football does not take priority over England V San Marino.

Can you imagine klopp being told he has to play re-arranged games in January with his big players at Afcon, and his squad decimated with injuries! The Premier League wouldn't even think about it.  This is going to be a long month!

Yes we are. So frustrating that Norwich game got postponed before our AFCON lads went an'all.

This month is going to get ugly.

Correct, which is why the PL should have been much less eager to cancel games last month in a blind panic.

Covid is going to disrupt the rest of the season unless they relax the testing/isolation rules, so the only way to get complete the season is to get fixtures played when possible (even if teams have to field weakened teams).

The way they are doing it, of course, means teams who lose players to Covid can postpone whilst those losing them to injury/international duty cannot.

Our fundamental problem is that we fall into the second category at the moment.

I'm not sure what people were expecting. They won't schedule these games that far into the future because if more games are called off then the slots in the future will be needed. They're literally cramming in as soon as possible. We can sit here and say things will get better but we just don't know circumstances of Covid in other teams and potential weather delays to matches. It all seems a bit farfetched and it's absolutely crap for us but the season might never end if they pushed these games to mid-Feb/March and beyond and then other matches got canned.

Cramming these game in adds extra pressure on the few who are fit, time to blood some of our promising youngsters.

Finish top 10 and focus defending the FA Cup and going all out for ECL

At least we might have to play against a bit of a weaker Spurs side with the games they have either side of ours

I would absolutely love us to get a result against them at full strength, the piss would be very steamy their end.
