Wordle - a daily word game

You’ve probably all seen the TV version.

 

Simple game- guess the 5 letter word. You have 6 guesses. Grey means the letter is not in the word and green means you got the right letter in the right spot. Few minutes of fun and   Can get you thinking, which is never a bad thing!

I enjoy starting with rude words, MINGE really helped in getting TIGER in 2 guesses. BOGEY was no help today.

I stupidly read the explanation as the first clue. Spent the whole time looking for words that began with W thinking daek mode was making the green difficult to see only to realise it started with S at the end 

 

From the comments I take it everyone gets a different word?

I think everyone does get different words.  Remember coming unstuck the other day on a word with two of the same letters where it was showing green for one.  Never thought to put a duplicate letter in.

Wasted my first two guesses misunderstanding the rules but then managed to get it. Will probably forget to play again though

Did it in three, mostly luck but possibly because of the hours I spent watching the programme when the in-laws came out for a fortnight. What was a happily distant memory is probably going to give me nightmares tonight.

Best way is to always cycle the vowels in your first 3 guesses.

Choose a word that has an A, E and 3 different consonants as your first guess 
Choose a word that has an I, O and 3 different consonants as your second guess 

Then you can always try a U on your 3rd guess if the previous guesses haven't made it clear already.
