No point getting mad at Italian teams for screwing us over.

It's our fault for overpaying for players, if we buy at market value then we can sell easier.

Italian clubs were looking to pay half of what we paid to Atalanta but we came in with a massive wad of cash to seal the deal. It's no surprise that 6 months later they dont want to play double what they were before after going out of favour here.

Not mad at Italian teams more the top brass of our club for continuing to spunk money on average players before loaning them out without an obligation to buy for the remainder of their contracts before they inevitably walk away for nothing

That’s quite worrying especially if we are looking to improve our worst position with a player who’s struggling in the French league.

Surely RB is our ‘worst position’?

This is a key thing for me.  For me we should be loaning any of our players to Championship sides that are looking to get promoted and put obligations to buy on promotion clauses much like we had with Fatawu.  If we had that with Souttar, despite him now being injured, we could have had a guarantee of getting our money back if they secured promotion.  Now we don't even know if we'll get the same calibre of player we loaned out after he recovers from his injury.  Plus even if he did and we go down and they go up, they'll be in a position to get a better deal cos they know we'll be keen to sell.

Development loans are different of course, but that's not what we're doing here.

For 5/10m wouldn't be against. He's into the last year of his deal.

I quite like him tbh, but very unsure if he's up to Prem quality.  However he spends as much time playing on the left wing as he does a striker and so his numbers are very respectable.  Also is a 2 birds one stone kind of signing.  An LW and CF option.  He's not played since November though, expected to be out for another 2 weeks at least.

Lampard:

“He came out on the grass yesterday for his first sort of steps outside with some mobility work to get moving. We’re hoping he’s back in the next two weeks or so,”

If fitness could be guaranteed? But not exactly inspired by the lack of match fitness even if OK in everyday sense of the word.

He also has something we don't have, a bit of physicality alongside his other attributes further up the pitch.

Probably agent talk for a contract tho

I think people are forgetting that any new signing will probably sit out 2/3 games for no reason whatsoever. It’s the Leicester City way.

We definitely need 3, but nobody anywhere is getting 3 through the door this early.

I'll be surprised if we have one in and ready for Palace.

Did he only sign a 2 year deal? That's ridiculous.

Rodgers used to bemoan the market as the problem but that’s a complete cop out imo. This setup is as slow as the government and needs to be shaken up to realise that anything is possible when you give a shit and move quickly without process.

If they know an agent is going to dick around for most of the window which is an uncontrollable, why not deal with the controllable items of signing a player and spend time on the negotiating side? It’d lead to better financial management and brokering anyway.

I’ve heard some football clubs are turning to AI for the administrative crap that slows them down, and even base level scouting. I doubt Jon could even spell AI if he tried.

Well if people in certain positions conducting their jobs these deals should of been done and dusted. When the summer transfer window shut they should of been working their tits off ready for the window to open.

The club is a joke and I swear to God they don't actually start working until the last week in the window

It's the 5th January and the fact no-one has come in is a joke.

We should of had atleast 3 players signed now so they are integrated into the squad before the next game atleast a week.

All the fans need to turn nasty on the board agaisnt Qpr on the 11th.

If we don't start to rebel against them and show a bit of aggression and fight they will just keep thinking everything is ok.

**** the board and **** Top he can **** off

The reality is the nothing ever happens for the first 3 weeks when the window opens, everyone just stares out of it.

Add to that who might we get?

Good players at other prem clubs or top European leagues wont come, why would they? Decent players at clubs going for promotion won't be sold so the best we can hope for is mid-table Championship or untested foreign players.

We’ve had a month to plan for new signings under the new manager. Ipswich have made a signing?

Ben Godrey is awful though. Fair play to McKenna if he pulls some black magic and turns his career around but I'd rather not sign anyone than sign him.
