All depends whether we needed to do that already. We spent £80m by my estimates last summer, which over 5 years is £16m in amortised costs for 2024/25. We had a few players drop off such as Praet (£4m) and Vestergaard we're £5m a year on PSR better off and hopefully saved more in wages. I think we need to get one of Faes or Coady out this month, likewise Edouard, Hamza and possibly Thomas and we can then look to get a couple of loans and a couple of players at £10m a piece. No one is buying Coady surely, and he seems in favour with Ruud. I think we could get half decent money for Faes and its now probably time for him to go.

We won't get that much for Hermansen. We sold Maddison who had just put up 49 goals and assists combined from the previous two seasons for less than that. I get that contracts make a big difference in that but nobody is going to fork out that sort of money on a goalkeeper for a club that will be desperate to sell.

Regardless of what everyone thinks of him, Faes is an international and has in the past been linked to bigger clubs. I can see him doing ok abroad and can see a club paying enough to cover his amortised fee. Im not sure he will have the appetite to mess around in the Championship again, and if he does he gets dangerously close to the end of his contract. Edited 6 January 2025 by Chelmofox

We're waiting for the league to tell us what their verdict is. If the two were always the same, we wouldn't have been in dispute with two separate governing bodies in the last year. The dispute was over a loophole regarding their incompetence regarding the wording of the rules not the finances , it was clear we'd breached financially, we just got away with it thanks to DiMarco.

Looked decent before his move, very good on the ball, aggressive off the ball in the press and appears to have some pace about him. Obviously left footed which gives us some balance, however, he doesn’t look like someone who can play in a 2, instead looks good for a 3 at the back.

He can play in a two mate, he did so throughout last season for Brest 👍🏻 1
les-tah Posted 6 January 2025 Posted 6 January 2025 another calamity ballsup by teflon don jon rudkin. just pay palace some severance to send him back for christ sake if it means we can actually get a loan to improve our starting 11. 1
Jakemoore Posted 6 January 2025 Posted 6 January 2025 *it’s nearly 2pm and I haven’t checked FT yet today. We may have been linked with someone from a reliable source* Nope. Naff all to see here. Rudkin out.

The fact the actual Palace manager has recently spoke about Edouard in not so glowing terms basically means Palace aren’t recalling him. I’d imagine we would have to pay them money to even consider doing so. This scenario epitomises the incompetence of how we deal with transfers.
Nick Posted 6 January 2025 Posted 6 January 2025 We probably had to do a season long loan with no break clause on our side just to land him. It’s perhaps too simplistic to blame Jon Rudkin for like, y’know everything?

A pointless last minute signing which we’re now lumbered with, brilliant foresight from those responsible for our transfer policy. 🤣 There is no joined up thinking whatsoever.

Considering Cooper has no interest in playing him I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest he wasn't begging for Edouard. Happened time and time again.

KFS Posted 6 January 2025 Posted 6 January 2025 They’ve hoodwinked another manager haven’t they. Any points deductions, transfer bans etc have to be seen as a positive as they are now punishing Jon and the crew. The fans will pay but this absolute moron and his merry band of executive muppets need to be shown a lesson

I always understood the why; we had no Daka, Vardy was getting on, so we just could not risk having no fit strikers, but to give ourselves zero wriggle room with this loan is just negligent. 1

surrifox Posted 6 January 2025 Posted 6 January 2025 If they won’t take him back why can’t we just drop him from the registered squad or is the problem that we have too many loans rather than too big a squad ? 1
