Hamza was exceptional and rightly deserved his applause from the crowd which was brought on by BR, can’t wait to see even more of Alves, minor complaint was not bringing off Madders, Youri and Barnes

Someone once famously said “you can’t win anything with kids”.

Well we did today and not only that our motm is a former academy lad playing out of position along with one of our goal scorers. Add in Thomas and KDH who were unavailable our academy ain’t doing too bad.

lets hope hope some of these lads kick on now.

Alves is only 16? Imagine going in to school on Monday!

....can you believe when Ashley Chambers made his debut at 15 (becoming the youngest player for Leicester) Alves probably wasn't born!!!

It just does not seem that long ago, I can still remember it well.

Well even your 2nd string and kids are too good for us.

With our defence a team full of folks on here would get a chance !

Really want you to stay up though, and from that point of view an early cup exit may be a blessing in disguise

Great result, and good performances all round.

The only bit of pressure was the person who had to fix the lights, must have taken 9 mins to find the Fuse Box😬

@Superhorns, I thought your youngsters did ok today, was it you by any chance that pulled the fuse on the flood lights?

Please don't take this comment as anything other than playing devil's advocate, but....

Would it have been savvy to have lost this game?

For the record, my opinion is 'absolutely not'. I'm just interested in opinions.

...if games become postponed and first teamers come back then they will not be getting first team football for some time!!!

The next step in their development is to go back to U23 football and not be overly disillusioned about it. Getting out on loan at the earliest moment will be a good motivator.

No.  Minutes in a few legs after our postponements and a good opportunity, taken well by the young lads. Good result to build confidence.

How would it have been savvy when our focus is the fa cup and the conference league?

The thing is and I understand you're playing devil's advocate and admittedly the question crossed my mind earlier, if it was a case of we drew and replays were still a thing i'd have probably sided with yes.

However, with these attitudes we're in danger of heading towards the territory of, What's the point in playing? What's the point in competing and enter competitions?

We treat our European campaigns with contempt, League Cup similar, arguably with this attitude the FA Cup the same, bemoaning the extra games it all adds (All clubs do).

I mean the League on a whole (again, regarding all teams) is arguably more devalued and has far less integrity this season than it was 2 seasons ago when Covid first hit (The season Liverpool won it).

Satisfying win.

I thought Hamza was excellent. A few mistakes here and there but recovered well and on the whole was absolutely fantastic in marshaling the backline.

The lad Brunt IMO was the pick of the young boys. As far as debuts go, he done very well, especially since he played half the game out of position.

Lookman, Barnes and Maddison really stood up and were counted today but my stand out was Albrighton. Took the Captains armband and really led the team.

We can point out how bad Watford we're and ofcourse that is true but given the circumstances of today and that we only had 8 senior players, that's a very good win.

Don’t disagree. did wonders for Barnes and KDH. A good loan spell at championship level can do wonders for confidence and helps to build them up in terms of the physicality of first team football.

Led to believe Alves is from the Groby area? Maybe we should just change our name to Charnwood borough fc? Hamza from Loughborough, KDH shepshed and Thomas syston. Must be something in the water in that part of the county.

So many positives, and just a general good vibe around the match. Hat tip to Hamza particularly (his covering for Vestegaard was class), Albrighton, Lookman and many others. Even Vesty made a positive contribution on the peno.

The next game won't be so easy.

Even after such a sweet match, I couldn’t resist peeking into the Hornets Nest to top it with a scoop of schadenfreude.  Some sensible takes …

  • We took off Sissoko and João because we had no intention of winning this match and didn't want injuries ... our season starts (and possibly ends) at the weekend.

… but also some salt …

  • Good effort from the boys against PL opposition and the current holders. Don’t think we can be too critical when playing the level of players they have like Will Alves … Credit to the lads for keeping warm when the lights went out.
  • Glad we're out, we can now focus on getting relegated.
  • Cathcart needs to be put down.

Are you not entertained ?

Disappoint to see just 5 pages. If we’d have lost, it would be at least double. Great to see senior players being senior. Other players backing that up. Then young lads equally thriving in that environment.

I am immensely proud of the club tonight. It’s a story what will largely go under the radar but a note worthy nonetheless.

Seeing the signing section with a raft of ages brilliant

You're absolutely spot on there CF
