Are loans - hired mercenaries - what you need in a relegation scrap? They may lack the commitment we need…

Depend on the player. Lookman was good for us.

Depends on the loan, could always be options or commitments to buy, if say we finished in the European places (however unlikely that is).

We’ve also seen teams who are struggling and fill their ranks with loans, including us when we went down to League One. Fulham did it the other year too. It rarely works, though 2 loans is hardly filling the ranks tbf.

I guess if you are skint and you really need some fresh options you don't really have a choice but to utilise the loan market.

Tielemans himself proof of a loan that works.

Yes, and Moneco fans said he was crap.

Every player should come with a clean-slate and be judged on their time here.

If we can get Tielemans out tomorrow for 20 and Aouar in for less than that and on less wages, combined with replacing Fofana with Faes that could be a terrific bit of business late on.

Should also give about 20m-ish to bring in a RW.

Trust me, he’s going to Arsenal tomorrow.

His agent is going to be very busy but will be in Leicester with Wout Faes....

Still think he will go.  His salary expectations will be lower on deadline day, and someone will pick him up for a bargain 20mil.

Why is he going to lower his salary on say a five year deal when next year he can get loads more as the club won’t be paying a transfer fee?

The price we get for YT tells us something about our financial situation

if we refuse bids of £20m then we aren’t in such a bad way

True but even if we accept 20m for him its still good business. He has a year left on his deal and hasn’t mentally been committed for over a season. This has led to poor performances and lots of mistakes.

Will be forever remembered for that goal and he’s still a quality player but its not working for him here anymore.

If the club won’t sell below their valuation then it tells us we aren’t that short of cash.  The whys and wherefores of whether we should or shouldn’t on a football level are different

Don’t agree, we aren’t going to get a quality replacement for £20m and I’d rather have another season with tielemans in the team hopefully giving us enough quality to avoid relegation right now

Selling Youri would leave us dangerously short of creativity and quality in CM. I hope to God that we have a plan in place to get in an appropriate replacement if he leaves suddenly in the next 2 days.

Exactly. Why are we worrying about losing him on a free next summer when we could be relegated by then? If he leaves today or tomorrow we will not replace him with somebody as good, so his departure would by definition weaken the squad. Given how vulnerable we are, why would we deliberately weaken ourselves further just to avoid losing a player on a free further down the line?
