Kolo Toure

The defensive challenges this season has required our defensive coach to step in and build a defence that can half put up a fight .  Kolo has hidden in the background and is showing in our sheepish defence, no clue about what to do in situations .  Yes the players are half at fault , having a donkey like Yannik doesn’t help , but a half decent coach would build a identity in our defence .  We have none of that leadership in the defensive area .  Which is why Johnny evans is so important, he fills in the intelligence Kolo should have the train our back line to have individual / back line identity .  He is the one here the top often slips under the radar .  Get him gone , need defensive coach that knows what he’s doing .  Being a athlete at Arsenal and reading the game doesn’t translate to vocal training as a coach for him sadly .

I’m sorry, what precisely are you basing this off? Kolo was here when our defence was imperious as well. You appear to be looking for someone to blame with absolutely no evidence. Bin.

Sorry Mrs Toure , but the guy is clueless .  The evidence is in the results . Regardless of injuries , as a unit at times seem clueless , especially when playing with a makeshift back line . That where your defensive coaching really is needed .  Anyone with half a brain defensively is out , which exposes a donkey like Vesterguard and dumbo Cags

Unless it is Kolo that has injured our starting back 4 /5 then pull your neck in please. 

 

I get fans are annoyed with the goals we are shipping but trying to find a scapegoat for everything is pointless.

I don’t really think you can say what he does but before all our defence got injured everything was fine. Stop being such a drama queen.

Yep I don't rate Kolo as he's allowed our defense at set pieces to be as bad as it is - he should be having a big influence in coaching that area of the game.

 

However, he's also been let down by poor recruitment - e.g. Vestergaard and Bertrand.

Because he is who he is, I think it makes it worse for him. If it was some no mark who hadn’t played in England at the top level nobody would give a shit. I don’t think I could have told you who our defensive coach has been for the last 10 years before Toure. We’ve been shit at the back before, and there weren’t posts on here calling for the coaches to be sacked then. It’s finger pointing for the sake of finger pointing.

you say you are good at pointing out the root cause? without any actual evidence. You are just pointing fingers. Kolo is coach that used to be a defender it must be his fault! 

 

I imagine its not that simple. 

 

And even with one of Fofana or Evans (a 100% fit Evans) in that back 4 we dont concede so many sloppy goals.

We have a separate set piece coach so again it cant be blamed on Kolo.

No sure what exactly more he could do last night . We had Albrighton at right back he’s not a right back . We had Hamza at right centre to right back whose a limited young midfielder . Vesty is just shit . Soy just back from injury not fully fit and massively out of form . That  just leaves left back …Thomas young lad second season not fully fit  just back from injury then  JJ that’s  been out for 11  months . Even Jesus would struggle to perform a miracle here

Great that there are so many posts in support of Toure.

 

Historically though if our keepers have been dodgy the goalkeeper coach has been brought into question, why shouldn't a defence coach be the same.

 

Evans is obviously our biggest defensive influence off and on the pitch as was Morgan previously but we have to learn how to live without Evans.

 

I appreciate we have been decimated with injuries but most games we have fielded defenders chosen and employed to play there. Ability aside, organisationally we have been crap at the back. I, and others bewildered obviously don't see the  Seagrave training personally but what i see as a result isn't that great. 

 

Wouldn't Toure have some influence and been asked and have pointed out to Rodgers that Vesterguaard and Bertrand are not actually that good before we signed them?
