Surely we're lining up replacements before he goes? Surely Rudkin is competent enough to do that seeing as we now have space in the squad and have freed up some wages, because those were the issues we were facing right lads?

Probably won't sign anyone and if we do, it be a signing that people will moan cause its not what they want, so in reality there's no point signing anyone

Would you please stop calling me Shirley?

Chelsea are messing us about.  We should cancel the deal.

We already need another centre back.  When Fofana goes, we need two.   Amartey,  Vestegaard  and Soyuncu aren't cutting it.

Said this in another thread but surely the medical shouldnt delay things that much? Only the confirmation.

We have a deal in principle so we can at least still go and make offers/agree deals.

Its very rare that a player who’s been fit and playing at a high level for months fails a medical.

It would be quite amateurish of the club to wait until the money is in the bank before making any offers to replacements. We don’t have the luxury of time.

I’d be pulling the plug and telling the French pig he can either get his head down and perform for a chance of going to the World Cup, or he can rot in the Under’s, and/or just decide not to turn up to training - either of the latter scuppers his chances.
Cocky, self-righteous twat.

Does it suit us to have a transfer deal that's perceived to have a risk of falling through?

Where does this leave us? Deadline day replacements?

Sigh.

Only our Club could be pressured into selling a key asset days before the end of the window and allow the buying Club to send him to the US for his medical.

We will do well to bring in 2 players before the end of the window.

The fact that the big clubs are allowed to spend ridiculously without limit shows we need a salary cap. The biggest problem with football is this.

Salary cap like in the NHL  across Europe would present a better product and playing field !

I'm not 100% on how it works but I'm pretty sure the MLS works something along the lines of a salary cap but they are alod X amount of players that they can pay what they want.

Salary caps can only work in conjunction with a "draft" and a no relegation system... this is a great way to equalise the clubs but destroys true competition.

Socialism in sport, everyone gets their chance to become the best team (in a mediocre league)

This is outrageous behaviour from Chelsea, we can't accept this. Haven't they taken the piss enough and now a player contracted to us is on a flight to the States with one of 3 outcomes: 1) deal off due to failed medical 2) fee is reduced due to anomalies in medical 3) all goes through leaving us virtually no time to bring in a decent quality replacement.

We've been absolutely bullied here, it's incredible. We can't do much about Wes being an unprofessional little snake but we can tell them to do one with a move like this. Honestly, what the bloody hell is going on,?

Wasn't it Chelsea vs Spurs that gave it the big "net zero carbon football match" last season?

Now they're sending footballers half way round the world for an MOT...

Their methodologies are massively flawed and conveniently omit a lot of their associated carbon activity from such reports.

After all that we're only getting 70m for him? Daylight robbery if so.

That’s the fee without add ons, and no harm in a lower fee being reported as other clubs will try to seek more money from us if they know we have a higher budget.

This isn't a recent problem and one that Rodgers has mentioned several times. It's another example of a clearly defined problem that has not been addressed despite having time and (previously) having resources to fix it. We are now seeing a culmination of these issues coming to a head. Very poor.

I mean it isn’t like we can’t do anything until the deal is confirmed

We can still line up our own deals and have them ready to go

Ah fair enough

Have they only just realised he runs with a limp? Prats.

I'd tell Chelsea we are pulling the plug unless Trevor Chaloblah is loaned to us.

People are saying it’s not that far to fly.
Yeah, it might only be 8 hours, but what - do you expect him to do the medical on the ****ing runway?

If they’re playing this game with us, they’ll string this out…

Medical will happen tonight. He’ll pass it.

But they’ll attempt one last round at negotiating the price down throughout Tuesday.
That we drag into Weds, and then they’ll finally announce late Wed / very early Thursday.

If we don’t have players lined up, contracts agreed and ready to sign as soon as the cash hits our bank, then, based on the running of the club since last season and knowing for months we’re in financial shit, we deserve to go down. - You either tell Fofana he’s not going anywhere. Or you have replacements lined up. Difficult to blame BR for this one.

I haven't noticed any moaning on this positive and constructive forum.

So we're paying him to have a nice trip to the States.

Why haven't we set Chelsea a deadline to get this complete. The club really is the pits at the moment.
