The quality of our youth team, the upcoming investment in the stadium, the form of Thomas and KDH, and the huge potential of Fofana and Daka are all positives.

One of my favourite games this season was the win over Watford in the FA Cup, showed there could well be good times to come.

I'd rather have lost that one 4-1

Right, I'm over it!

I'm a glass half full kind of guy, by nature, and I just don't have time to dwell on that shambles.

I was there, in the Brian Clough Stand, surrounded by them. I live and work in Nottingham. If I can move on, anyone can!

He's a list of positive thoughts...

- If you'd have said to me at the start of last season, you will win the FA Cup but Forest will beat you 4-1 at their place the season after, I'd have snapped your arm off for that scenario.

- There will surely be a reaction! Albeit, I can't see anything but defeat at Liverpool (there should at least be some passion shown), I think against West Ham. there will be a positive reaction.

- Fofana, Evans and Vardy will be back for the back end of the season. This can only give us a boost. We have tailed off in the last two seasons, surely we will have a good end to the season this time.

- Hopefully, our fans (and Top) that were at the game, will realise that the atmosphere created by the home fans, at the City Ground is achievable, and will put plans in place to match this atmosphere.

- We can now focus on the Premier League and The Europa Conference League (I know its cliché, but it is true)

- We have a potential of 25 games left this season (I think!). If its true about a squad overhaul, we should focus on this fact, and ensure a siege mentality, to go out and smash it in these games. Plenty of our players could be playing for their places in the world cup squads.

- With regards to Brendan. Stick with him. If he's not taking us down (which I genuinely believe there are three worse clubs than us) then lets see where we are at the end of the season. Imagine that we take him at face value, and what he says is correct! TBF, its not the end of the world if we sold Soyuncu and Tielemans, as long as the money is invested wisely. If Brendan, Susan and Top can formulate a cohesive plan to re-structure, then they have my trust. Looking at the history of this club in my lifetime, we are peaking! I don't find this offensive! I believe we still have ambitions to challenge at the top end of the table, no one said that's going to be a smooth ride. Brendan has got credit in the bank. This can't be denied. two top six finishes, an FA Cup and a Charity Shield. Be careful what you wish for. I can't think of a sensible, attainable replacement. The peaks out weigh the troughs with Brendan, at the moment, for me. Even a trophy-less mid table finish this season would not change that for me.

- Just another small positive to end on; When we were three one down, the Forest fans around me were still extremely nervous, and were sure we were going to get back into it. It shows how far we've come in terms of respect for our quality. They were all commenting on how we looked "premier league quality". They aspired to close that gulf in class.

Feel free to add, but try not to argue, and keep it positive!

Get behind the lads

At least a couple of these can't be taken as "positives" as it's really you are hoping for this outcome.

If we're talking about positives from the Forest game... can't think of any, sorry.

Good post. Thanks for the morale booster. I admit I'm a glass half empty type. I hope we get a win soon. Agree we should keep Brendan and be careful what we wish for

Surely it's better to he looking at what we can possibly achieve rather than looking towards past achievements as positives?

You can either feel sorry for yourselves or find ways to move forward and get out of this mess.

I actually think it's us that are hurting the most from this loss that are trying to find the solutions.

I think of myself as a pragmatic kind of guy, if I'm basing that on what I hope will happen... it's not happened all season yet, what's to say it will happen now. Taking from OP's points

- There will surely be a reaction! Albeit, I can't see anything but defeat at Liverpool (there should at least be some passion shown), I think against West Ham. there will be a positive reaction. - Highly possible we will get drubbed by Liverpool and West Ham given how poor our defence is. Hope I'm wrong, but I'm doubtful of getting 3 points out of those 2 games.

- Hopefully, our fans (and Top) that were at the game, will realise that the atmosphere created by the home fans, at the City Ground is achievable, and will put plans in place to match this atmosphere. - Our atmosphere has been bad since 15/16 season, despite attempts to improve it, this has not happened. Yet we have seen other teams be creative and have brought excellent away ends. Nothing will change on that

- Just another small positive to end on; When we were three one down, the Forest fans around me were still extremely nervous, and were sure we were going to get back into it. They aspired to close that gulf in class. - But we lost 4-1 and were extremely poor.

But there was also this kind of negativity that you're displaying when Ranieri come to the end of his spell. It was like oh no that's that then, we've had our season back to being Leicester.

Rodgers is STILL a top class manager. He has numerous faults but my god I cannot understand why our fans have gone to seeing him as some egotistical fraud. The same thing happened with Pearson. Arguably the two best managers we've ever had and they're absolutely hated by some. I genuinely think we're the only fanbase who could be like that.

I cannot get my head around how we lost to a team so much worse than us 4-1. But then we conceded goals left right and centre against Europa opposition months ago who aren't aren't better, and have done nothing to address that. It certainly isn't just Rodgers who needs to take the blame for that.

There comes a time in every managers tenure where they lost the impact with the players, Klopp has said this previously too. And the way manages can continue to have this influence is evolving the team and constantly refreshing it (something Fergie used to be excellent at doing).

My problem with Rodgers is that he refuses to accept blame, whilst the players have to take their share of blame from Sunday, for Rodgers to come out of it unscathed is nonsense... this is a critical Derby match, how can you not be fired up for that? His selection had some major question marks, giving the captaincy to a wantaway player, not playing Schemeichel, knowing Iheanacho is not as effective up front as a solo striker but still persisting with not giving him that partner up top.

His signings (as mentioned on The Athletic podcast) have all been extremely questionable.

We never use to capitulate against teams, this season alone we have had some shocking results and yet he is blameless in all of this.

There are thousands of other teams out there in the world who don't have a Brendan Rodgers, why do we continue to accept these poor performances from one of the best paid managers in the league when he is so stubborn to change things when it's bad. It took him HOW long to change from Zonal marking on corners to man marking? Despite it being absolutely clear for all to see it was a MAJOR weakness.

Rodgers is good but not that good , he does change his mind but only when he has been brutally exposed. Our players are good but with a very few exceptions not as good as they think they are. Our championship team was principally a team of good players who played as a unit and outran teams with very good players not functioning properly. Kante, Mahrez and Vardy raised their games by playing in a very focused and determined team. We need to recover that group focus and we should improve enough to be comfortably top half at the end of the season.

I think that season in general was a prime example of why most fans of clubs are so angry at the lack of effort from top players. Games like Southampton that season towards the end, we were do determined to win everything. I haven't seen us with that much effort since then. That was because of what it meant to them all individually though. I'm not naive enough to think we'll ever get any players in this era "playing for the club".

If the depth of feeling was merely about a 4-1 drubbing by our Midlands rivals then yes, there are reasons to be optimistic.

But ... the realist in me has to acknowledge that this was not just a one off, absolutely nowhere near, it's been happening for a long time now and this manager, despite his protests, has had probably the most talented squad to work with for decades! Damn right he should come under scrutiny and with the squad he had available to him, at best, the league positions were about on par with what should reasonably be expected and was more due to the ability of the players and less so his arrogant bumbling management.

His tenure has come to an end, he's been found out massively and to allow him and his sidekick to assemble a new squad would be absolute suicide.

As for Soyuncu going, talk about fickle, it wasn’t that long ago that people were singing his praises and a great replacement for Maguire. Do we not take into account his mentor in Evans is missing? He'd only really had one season at this level. Do we not take into account the fact that Rodgers pushed him to the wide left of 3 where he's clearly clearly uncomfortable? What about Rodger's ludicrous stubborn zonal marking? All these things have sapped his confidence. All he needs is a new manager and some vaguely competent coaches.

I’m exhausted from this all. Hope the players just turn up and play hard against Liverpool and Rogers doesn’t cock things up on his part. If it all falls apart badly which it could after the first Liverpool goal goes in then god help us. History has shown we can start well but are very brittle once we concede especially in this Bad moment we are in. We need some help and sympathy from the footballing gods.
