This season he has also gone past Ernie Hines to stand third on the all time LCFC goalscorers chart, behind the two Arthurs (159 gls).

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, if it has I didn't see it.

Worth repeating as they'll be people who don't know,

This is an amazing stat really. I think most of Rowley's goals were in the 2nd tier, and Chandler was playing in an era with higher scoring games (correct me if I'm wrong) and poorer defences. Easily our greatest ever player now.

Arthur Chandler - 2 seasons Tier 2, 10 seasons Tier 1 - https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/history/players/?pid=776

Arthur Rowley - 6 seasons Tier 2, 2 seasons Tier 1 - https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/history/players/?pid=658

So about right what you said.

Definitely our goat. Rowley and Chandler are rightly famous in English football.  Vardy is known, admired, and famous around the world.

Oh I forgot despised by many English club's fans (out of envy). Always a good sign of greatness. lol

Unquestionably our GOAT - and it's not even close

lovely touch and lay off for Maddison's goal too. Not a bad quarter of an hour's work!

Do we think he'll break into the Premier League's all-time top 10 before he retires?

He's currently 14th on 128, with RVP (144), Sheringham (146), Ferdinand (149), and Owen (150) the four in front of him.

Without a doubt.

If he can stay fit for another couple of seasons, then yes with ease. In fact, he could easily bag another 6-10 this season with 14 games to go. That would mean he would barely need to get into double figures in the next to be up there. I would be fairly sure that, despite any protestations on his part that he does not think about such things, taking each game as it comes etc etc, it must be a personal target he has set himself.

Thanks for the link. Just found there's a little blurb on (at least some of) the players' profiles.

This is the final line on Vardy's:

"A determined, never-say-die character complements Vardy's eye for goal and City will be hoping their gamble pays off."

We might say it did.

I realize after last night, this might be counterintuitive, but he hasn't even entered the "Francesco Totti, coming off the bench to score the winner" phase of his career. He is still a starter. I seriously think he has another multi-year contract in him.

Arthur Chandler was still scoring goals ages 39.

He could easily do it by the end of next season, barring injury.

I agree, but amazing to think back to that erratic, scrawny kid out of non-league that somehow became Jamie Vardy, terror of the Premier League.

Some kind of Faustian shit going on there.

King of banter as well.

Jamie Vardy's brutal 2016 retort to Harry Kane's lion photo

When it comes to the art of banter, Jamie Vardy is the undisputed king.

The Leicester City star has made a habit of triggering opposition support bases and players with some superb, no-prisoners-taken humour.

Over the course of his Premier League career, Vardy has gone out of his way to poke fun at, enrage and generally let the opposition know that he simply doesn’t take them seriously at all.

Jamie Vardy scored his 128th Premier League goal for Leicester City in their 2-0 away win at Burnley last night. In doing so, he broke one of the Premier League’s more obscure records, becoming the highest scoring player in the competition after turning 30 years old.

94 of his 128 goals have come since his 30th birthday on 11th January 2017 (73%), with his strike last night sending him past the previous record holder Ian Wright (93).

It's also worth noting that none of the players behind Vardy in that list is still playing - indeed several of them stopped playing 15 years or more ago.

I read somewhere else that the second highest scorer of PL goals over age 30 who's still playing is Aubameyang with 40-odd.....and he's now left the PL. So it looks as if Vardy could hold that record for a long time....

We just need to keep playing him until he reaches 160 goals. 32 goals to go. I reckon he could do it

This is the key going forward.  Even though he will still be our best striker and most potent goal threat he has now reached the stage of his career where we need to manage him.  Twenty minute cameos off the bench extend his career and could be the way forward knowing that if we get greedy and try to play him from the start to often the likelihood is he struggles.  Play him in the big games and use him sparingly in the majority of matches and I’m sure barring proper bad luck he’s got another 3 seasons at least in him. His brain gives him a yard head start on most defenders.

He will get more than Owen I'm sure, but Salah has a decent shot at stopping him making top 10

Anyone think he could claim that record before he ends? 32 needed. Maybe 7 more this season, leaving 25 ……. a tall

order of next season is his last? But he might make a few rare appearances beyond that and

and sneak a couple ??? 🤷
