If the criticism from Rodgers has caused his decline to exacerbate, then he needs to grow a pair somewhere else. I suspect his confidence took an absolute battering after being cast out from Rodgers. Perhaps there were some home truths spoken by Rodgers or other players. And from then on I suspect Rodgers is unlikely to be a person to willingly 'clear the air' (that's speculation, I know, but he doesn't strike me as one to back down from his own pedestal). And now he's been frozen out fully barring a Stockport cup game. My feeling is he just needs a bit of confidence injected back into him. If the problems still persist if/when a new manager comes in, then fair enough he's probably not going to regain that period of form where he was an actual beast to play again. 5

Because his form when he first replaced Harry Maguire was good and he maintained a very high level. Admittedly he’s been crap since, but at least there is ‘hope’ (however forlorn) he could contribute Compare to Amartey who is currently keeping him out of the side. He’s never shown any consistent form, is sh1t and probably always will be 2
Koke Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 Another one that needs ro be moved on. If you can't get in ahead of Amartey then you're done at this club. 2
JimJams Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 Maybe he's just a confidence player and he's been on a long downward trajectory after initially having a long upward one for us. It's not something usually associated with defenders, but it might be the case.
Koke Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 Perhaps he will flourish under a new coach. But he won't sign a new deal anyway. So just sell now.
kingkisnorbo Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 I'd like him to be moved only so I never have to hear that bogging chant ever again. 1

It just amounts to him needing to go unfortunately, we cannot afford to be emotional about it or even regard him as not as bad as others. If he has a market we can use, then he should go, as it is believed/reported/guessed, he wishes too. Will link in @StanSP as I am too lazy to respond separately to what is the same conversation.
StonyFox Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 I'd have loved him to turn his form around as he's got all the attributes to be very good, but Brendan isn't going to pick him, he doesn't want a new contract, so sell for as much as we can. Definitely need another centre back with Faes if he does go. 1
Dahnsouff Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 Maybe Brendan is hoping for a revival via hair solidarity with Wout coming in

Yeah …. the logic is good. Ideal situation is/was we move him on and bring in someone who is committed to the cause. Like all the other moves… precious little time left in this window to get him out and get a replacement in and, on that basis only, I’d rather have him in the team than Amartey 1

Lambert09 Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 on paper fae looks more of a soyuncu replacement than a fofana one… maybe there’s something in this and we will still be signing another cb 🙏

CrispinLA in Texas Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 Never forget when he lifted Maddison up 1
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 31 August 2022 Popular Post Posted 31 August 2022 Attila Szalai in and Soyuncu out would do me. Szalai and Faes would suddenly turn a very tepid defence in to one with aggression and steel. Both comfortable on the ball without being elite passers or ball carriers but that's OK. 7

We simply don't have the funds unless more leave and that is starting to look unlikely. Edited 31 August 2022 by reynard
teblin Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 Would people swap cags for Traoré? I know his end product leave a lot to be desired but would add much needed pace and physical presence to the team.
JimJams Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 What do we think Cags current market value is? Saw somewhere that Traore was about £10M.
