Anyone else got a hunch that Vards might be available tonight?

No itk. But photos seem a bit light on the ground. I wonder....

Rodgers said they wouldn't get the results to the latest tests until next week, so I doubt he will be unfortunately.

Probably right. But you never know, could be a double bluff. 🤔

Will be a tight game I think we should show a bit more going forward this time round we seemed ultra cautious last week, we have goals in the team and the defence is looking more solid so I'm expecting us to do the business

Full of nervous energy. Can't stop looking at the clock. Been at work for what feels like 10 hours and it's only been 1.

With the defenders available to us now, even without the shielding by Ndidi I can see us getting a clean sheet anywhere and they'll be encouraged by their fans to come out and attack leaving more space for us than the first leg. So long as the ref is strong and doesn't react to crowd noise we have every chance of doing this. :schmike:

Silly me, "strong referee who doesn't react to crowd noise"...away in Europe....I'm in fantasy land territory aren't I

The one thing I can't stand about refs in big games is they think they're doing the game a favour by not booking fouls that deserve a yellow. All you're doing is saying "go ahead and make dangerous/unfair challenges, it' fine by me" Until the 65-70 minute when literally any touch becomes an automatic yellow.

...the worst one is when they fail to book a player because he is already on a yellow!!!

So his next bookable misdemeanor is overlooked. They don't want to ruin the game or just not brave enough.

Nothing peeved me more than Mark Clattenburg coming out and saying he "allowed Tottenham to self destruct" in their 2016 game against Chelsea, admitting they deserved at least three red cards he never handed out. He said he "helped the game" and didn't want to be blamed by Tottenham for losing the title.

He should have been censured by every football governing body for unprofessional conduct and banned from having any connection with the game ever again. How the hell is not handing out cards and admitting you tried to affect the flow of the game because you are afraid of being pilloried in the press any different than doing the same thing because someone hands you an envelope full of cash?

Was that not Micheal Oliver?

...I can agree totally that how Clattenburg claims he "controlled" the game was tantamount to match fixing!!!

Had he followed through with red cards, the game would have been abandoned as there would have been insufficient players on the team to meet the criteria required by the league to constitute a "football team".

It seemed It was a cynical ploy to cancel the game, in order for it to be replayed.

I think he'd already retired by the time he admitted that hadn't he. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he admitted it whilst reffing in england. There was a very real chance that a chelsea player could have had their career ended that night due to the fact he thought it was all about him. Absolutely terrible.

Benoit Bastien this season:

25 games, 100 yellow cards.

I really hope we get on the front foot tonight and play to score rather than playing not to concede.

I appreciate our situation is different to that of Chelsea's on Tuesday night, but there is a prime example of 'getting at' a European side, and then look at last night where a Man City went cautious against those cheating b******* Athleti (sorry I still can't let 97' go) and they made it hard work for themselves.

Yes he had already retired but an investigation and punishment could have taken place after his retirement affecting any future career. The guy is now the Head of the refs association in Greece.

Sounds like a perfect match to me :D
