Is it just that we haven’t had anyone with us for long enough, or are testimonials not longer a ‘thing’ at EPL level? Maybe players that have earned £200k a week no longer feel the need for a few bob from a testimonial ?? 🤷

They didn't give one to King or Schmeichel either. Can't see them doing one with Vardy at the end of this season either. Feels like testimonials aren't really a thing in this day and age.

Testimonials came from an era when players didn't earn much, it was like a retirement bonus for their bank account.

 

Which is why they have died off players don't need it.

Footballers (at the top level) earn so much that testimonials aren't really needed now, unless some/most of the proceeds go to a charity of the player's choosing.

it could be made  a charitable event. Proceeds go to help Ukranian refugees, the Vichai foundation… anything really

Yeah, I wasn’t thinking about Vardys bank balance regarding a testimonial 😂 I’m sure that’ll be fine on its own

 

But would be class to make a bit of a fuss of him for a game. Raising money for a charity would be excellent too

Would be great to back the likes of Fuchs, Huth, King, Simpson, Nugent and Dyer to play in the opposition.
