Can't remember who that was against but I remember one of the players saying he went into the locker room, threw his boot on the floor and said someone put that out, it's on fire.

I remember around Christmas time in League One vs Bristol Rovers we were 1-0 down in injury time and Fryatt scored twice in injury time to win 2-1. Bristol Rovers were around 2nd or 3rd at that time before dropping down the league. That was the moment I felt we could get promoted.

Of course Morgan and Albrighton vs Sevilla in the CL as well.

Maddison and Ricardo vs PSV got to be the most memorable example this season.

Great game and great goal by Kuffour for them as well and probably one of the best away followings that season attendance wise. Although I think it was at the start of November and Bristol Rovers weren't in the top 6, we were probably just in the top 6 at that point.

Parker and Claridge Play off against Palace. Garry's was a penalty but vital and of course Steve with 2 seconds before end of extra time. Also Vards 2 against Liverpool. The screamer and deft finish.

I don’t think so, play-offs maybe. My memory of it was that Bruma and PVA were pretty poor, Mee was hit or miss, I don’t think we ever really had a convincing defence that season. Some good individual performances from Naughton, Vitor and Davies but never a really good unit. It always felt like a collection of individuals.

Yep I agree. I think the problem was they all had decent potential but were all young and relatively inexperienced at the time.

Yeah we started well when Sven first joined and got up to 6th or just outside of the playoffs at least at one point but faded and went on an awful run. Yakubu and Naughton were the only ones listed who were actually good.

My memory of Bruma especially is that he was awful and we all wanted him dropped and Sven basically admitted part of the loan agreement with Chelsea meant he had to keep giving him minutes.

Van Aanholt wasn’t much better, I remember him making 2 or 3 really stupid mistakes that led to goals.

Beating spurs in 1998 we scored two beauties. Izzet's is more famous but Heskey's was superb too.

You're right, I just looked it up. We'd just come into the game on 4 games without a win and had slipped down to 5th.

That game was the first game in our club record 23 game unbeaten run though. So it helped start our relentless momentum to the title.

The 2 injury time goals scored in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal - Elliott then Walsh. Not to mention the sublime bit of skill from Bergkamp in between. Ridiculous game.

Yeah it was after that awful Brighton away match.

These two by Andy Peake v Watford are lodged firmly in my memory (and there's a bonus v Liverpool just for fun):

Beat me to it. Was it 4-1 in the end? March 84.

Has to be Robert Huth in Feb 16’ away at Man City - granted not blinding goals but the day the lads came away believing it was on!

Rest is history never ever to be repeated ……

Knocky had those two bangers in one game-the scorpion and the 40 yarder. I want to say Huddersfield, but will probably have to edit to look clever.

It was Huddersfield!

What a brace! I miss Knocky.. I miss Alan Young giving him a dressing down on the radio too.. "pull your boots up, Mister Nockee-art"

Gallagher Vs Palace, just a shame there were so few Palace fans there to see it as they would have had a lovely view.

Throws boot into middle of dressing room.. "someone put a fire extinguisher on that.."

Mugging Leeds at the death in the League Cup in 1998 - Muzzy's exquisite lob and Parker pen to win 2-1.

The only time I've ever experienced the final whistle greeted with laughter.

Never forgotten his goal against Liverpool. After the game Jock Wallace's prediction that we would win the First Division suddenly didn't seem all that outlandish.

Would have said Peake v Watford and Gallagher, also v Liverpool 1986 Osman and Gary Mac, both fairly long range, cracking match and a Dalglish beauty too. Also Paul Ramsey in the 4-3 win v Leeds sticks in the mind as it was unusual, firstly for him to score, secondly for him to score again and thirdly the fact he'd come off the bench rather than started the game, decent long range shots too, it was all a bit....random.
