This board was literally pleading with the club not to play Ward after the Newcastle game.

 

We knew, not suspected or feared, but knew he'd cost us the game.

Quite. He's just going to waste six months of his life and career here and the number of clubs who will take a chance on him will only diminish when he can't even get on the bench for the reserve team of a side struggling in the Premier League.

Just as curiosity, I had a look at page 1 of this thread. 

 

Interesting stuff. The vast majority warned against this guy right from the off. 

 

I was interested if it's all hindsight talking. But,.nope. Many had this guy rumbled from day 1.

Does he like golf I hear there's a wonderful course at the training ground? If he hated it that much hed have left by now, I swear we turned down an offer for him from Wolves 3-4 years ago.

And yet he chooses to stay and pick up his inflated, unearned salary rather than seek game time and professional advancement elsewhere.  So lets not feel too sorry for him, it;s his choice to stay.

In 22/23, we got relegated by 2 points, finishing with a goal difference 6 better than 17th-placed Everton.

 

Can anyone who witnessed this whole season honestly say that Ward cost us less than 3 points - everything else being equal? He made it near impossible for us to stay competitive by constantly letting in soft early goals, forcing us to chase many games. Absolutely decimating for team morale, evident from all his bust-ups with his defenders.

 

Fast forward to this Wolves game and our defence looked like they had given up. Put Mads, Stolarczyk, or Iversen between the sticks and it's 0-0. No exaggeration, those three goals were basic saves for any professional standard goalkeeper.

 

If we end up going down by fine margins again, we'll all know exactly when it happened: playing Ward against Wolves.

 

Credit to those who booed Ward and made their voices heard, with hundreds of millions quid at stake and a us staring down at a potential lost decade in the Championship (or worse), we simply cannot afford it. If we'd found our voice in 22/23, we might not be living this nightmare now.

You are spot on. The first goal yesterday was extremely poor from a goalkeeping pioont of view but I didn’t hear a murmur against Jakub. I think we got the message across against Wolves

That wolves game was brutal from a human level. It was so toxic in the ground which transferred to the players. Looking back, I think that had something to do with the performance.

 

He's not good enough and he needs to leave, but it must have affected him personally no matter if you're a strong person or not. 

 

RvN has to take part blame for putting someone in that position, but if he didn't do his research, then someone else should have said something, like, I don't know, the DoF! When Mads was injured, there should have been a conversation, someone at the club should have read the room. 

 

Booing is a double edge sword. Yes it got the point across on how we feel about Ward, and we'll be better for it but it can be damaging. It's a way fans show frustration towards managers as well. There isn't many other ways a point can get across in a loud way. 

 

I never agree with booing your own players during a game. Soumare is a prime example. People round me used to boo him when he came on. Now look at him. Ward isn't capable of a redemption like that, I know and I was angry at each of the goal. But that was at the team. So many clangers from too many people.

 

Like I say, I think he's useless at this level, but there is a human there as well. It maybe a case that he never recovers. Who would take him now?

Seemed likely he was always going to be like this sort of person or he would have been gone before now, this is despite him not being up to the required standard on the field.

Have as many insightful conversations with him as you. Dont ever play him again. Mads, Jacob, Iverson, Under 21 keeper, Under 18, Under 16, Under 10s, Under 8, Ward. That's the order.

I left early from the Wolves game not because of the performance but because of the vile section of fans booing and hurling abuse. What happened definitely made the team play worse and made it an awful environment for the rest of us. Make your feelings heard at the end of the game for sure but destroying the atmosphere and the teams confidence game time is a level of stupidity I simply can't stand.  Let's not forget the amount of abuse that then leaks out to players family's etc. Leicester fans seem to turn on the players/manager at the drop of a hat these days. We used to get louder when were losing not that long ago and we turned the game around so many times because of it.

Not sure I agree with this. If the fan base hadn’t of reacted the way it did Ward might have started the next game and then the one after that. Results since then are irrelevant if Ward was in goal we’d have been an absolute joke . I totally get he needs to be protected and the best way that could have happened is with what happened, being hounded out at the first opportunity, otherwise he’d have kept falling over himself and things would have got more toxic, that isn’t good for anyone, least of all Ward.

Well if you’re really shit and when you play you royally **** up, the very least you can do is know your limits and be a good egg. At least from the look of it he has those qualities.

No doubt he’s a great personality, also is a shite goalkeeper, those two things can exist together, I doubt Jelle ten Rouweelar would be great on a Saturday this year but I’ll take him on the training ground helping the guys who aren’t shite too

There was nothing personal in the chants as far as I know. Just telling him he's shit, which he is. It's happened forever in football and is not really a big deal. Do you leave when the opposition fans sing about Vardy's wife?
