Not a clue. But he doesn't play for Southampton so I'm all in favour.

What is it with us being linked with everything from Southampton what’s next Maureen the Tea Lady from them?

Looks a good player but is he any better than Lookman who would probably be cheaper if we are persisting with a right footed RW.

Not a RW and not a goal threat. It's no from me. Go all in on Madueke. Young, English and can score goals.

Most goals in a season from Diop - 7

Most goals in a season from Madueke - 7

Leicester City are interested in signing Monaco winger Sofiane Diop during the upcoming transfer window.

Diop scored nine times and registered seven assists in the recently-concluded season and is on the radar of several clubs in Europe.

The winger still has four years left on the new contract he signed with Monaco last year, but there is a real threat of the club losing him.

Borussia Dortmund are amongst the clubs who have been keeping tabs on him with a view to taking him to the Westfalenstadion.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Leicester also have an interest in getting their hands on the player.

Brendan Rodgers is looking to carry out extensive surgery on his squad following a disappointing season for Leicester.

The Leicester boss wants to bring in more creativity to the squad and Diop is a player he likes.

The winger can play across a variety of positions in the final third and Leicester like his versatility.

Diop will be studying the offers to leave but is yet to take a call on whether he wants to move on from Monaco this summer.

an article about diop that only has 2 pictures..2 pictures of rodgers :revenge:

Both Madueke and Diop have had 2 "full seasons" at top division football - although Madueke has played a less overall in both seasons, and had some injury issues last season

If it was a choice between the 2 as a right winger I would go for Madueke, ideally we would get both as Diop could probably cover both wings

Diop - 22 years old

20/21

35 appearances - 26 starts - 2,136 minutes - 23.7 90s

7 goals and 2 assists

Goal contribution every 237 minutes

21/22

45 appearances - 29 starts - 2,588 minutes - 28.8 90s

9 goals and 7 assists

Goal contribution every 162 minutes

Madueke - 20 years old

20/21

32 appearances - 11 starts - 1,280 minutes - 14.2 90s

9 goals and 8 assists

Goal contribution every 75 minutes

21/22

34 appearances - 26 starts - 1,859 minutes - 20.7 games

9 goals and 6 assists

Goal contribution every 124 minutes

He’s another one of these has bags of talent but has yet to achieve his potential.

I think the club re desperate to find one of these, another Mahrez if you will. So far we have had three attempts at it, with Lookman proving useful, but better on the left.

It’s one of those signings that can go either way, he will either join and be a revelation, or be another failed experiment.

I like Diop but anything more than £25m which would be a huge surprise if he went for less and its a baffling signing.

Soumare and a few quid? Although I think Monaco are more interested in a loan of Soumare.

he's been dropped of the starting Monaco Eleven by Philippe Clément since he took over

mainly because Diop doesn't work enough and attitude problems

He’s just one of these raw talents who blows hot & cold, but I don’t know why some fans are thinking he’ll be a RW starter, he’s ideal competition for Maddison & Barnes.

To say he isn’t a goal threat though is hilarious, he scored the same amount of league goals than Harvey Barnes last season. He’s scored the same amount of league goals in a season than Noni Madueke has.

Lets be honest, we need two wingers, Diop & Madueke are both raw talents who can blow hot & cold, both would be gambles, but both could easily turn out to be quality signings.

The general consensus from Monaco fans on Twitter seems to be, they either want him to stay or sell him to us in exchange for Soumare.

This is where I question what we’re doing.

Diop clearly talented, but there’s also something amiss with his game, similarly to Under, and potentially even Lookman when you consider his past. Yet there are other players such as Noni who have proven to be grafters as well as skill full.

I think it’s as plain as we’re hoping to polish a turd, we want to uncover another Mahrez, so we’re gambling on players with similar attributes but coke with baggage, our hope is we can work that out of them.

So basically, we’re looking int he reduction bin for that toy, and with half a leg, kind of does the job but there’s clearly something wrong with it.

And Madueke doesn't bring baggage with him? Getting done by the police for speeding and then only being able to provide a faked drivers license doesn't exactly speak volumes

Let's just swap him for Soumare, will save some cash..... really don't think Soumare is going to workout here.

Read that he gets 11k aweek.....they don't pay over the top wages in Europe, bet he wants to come here just the reason Soumare jumped ship

I thought it would be fun to pick a random post from the Diop thread on the Monaco forum and get my french friend to translate it.  The first thing she said was 'why is this person writing like a 70 year old aristocrat'.  Here is what the the Monaco fan said:

I really like Diop, but I think he doesnt have a good enough engine to keep him going, and the fatigue is coming. His brain is burning, thats what makes him run, run in the void and make à lot of bad decisions... he also seems to work on trust, and the fact that he is starting on the bench doesnt booster him to show his worth. Anyways, it's unfortunate even though he is young and hasnt yet reached the Glass roof.

So there you have.  Definitive.  I have asked her to infiltrate the forum and provide me with more information.  She has told me to do one.

Sadly nonsensical when used with parochial language, or was when I tried it anyway came up with gibberish.  I admit I am a technophobe though 😂
