Must be quite nice for Sunderland to not feel completely devastated by a play off loss for a change.

They’re well ahead of schedule with a young squad. Another season will probably do them good.

Agreed. Pitch invasions just seem so forced now.

Was thinking the same thing. I personally think they'll storm the championship next season, might even be a blessing in disguise this play off loss.

Sunderland were dreadful. Was like watching a Championship Brendan Rodgers side. Soft players who were bullied off the ball trying to play tika taka football with no plan b

Was a pretty dismal performance.  I think their plan A has been injured since Jan.  You could see they needed a proper number 9 at times, wide players didn't have options in the box.

Luton must be one of the worst places to lose a big game at. Tunnel near the rowdy section, close to the pitch and away fans hemmed in.

The connection Rob Edwards has built with the Luton fans in a short space of time is what we need from a manager next season.

Dewsbury-Hall to Luton if they go up I reckon.

From what I've seen of them this season they've basically got a midfield and attack full of Knockaert types but no defensive midfield enforcer. Once they have that they'll have enough in the championship to challenge for promotion next season. And a striker would also help of course.

Seen more fight and passion from the players in 5 minutes of this game than us in our whole season!

This what really concerns me, our spineless team would struggle finding any passion or grit,  we need more new players then we think

Basically all their defenders were out injured and main striker too in Stewart.

I mean even our lightweight lot managed to score 2 goals against them from set plays which says it all.

Did well to get into the play-offs really.

Luton reminded me of us under Aidy Boothroyd and maybe we might have been like that under Edwards too but then we wouldn't have the players to show the same desire and effort really as proven this season.

We know for certain we need at least 12, with the 8 players out of contract, the likes of Barnes and Madison will move on and carry on in the PL and the Belgian duo Castagne and Preat will almost certainly get moves to Europe.

At this stage I’m not worried about next season, it will be a new manager and a vastly different squad to what we have this season.

Especially considering he started the season at Watford!

On par with Millwall fans.

I mean I cannot probably say much but this  seems to be a very bizarre and strange move to change manager after such a good season.

Seems bizarre.  One of my best mates is a Sunderland supporter and she was saying just last night that overall the fan base consider this a really positive season given what a young team they are and the injury problems they've had.

Surely he deserves another crack of the whip.

Edit just chatting to them apparently he was never a long term hire and whilst he's done well this season fans have never warmed to him particularly or seen him as a long term solution..

Anyone think it’s a bit out of order that premier league referees are brought in to officiate the play offs? They invariably do an absolutely wank job all season and get a gig that someone who has been at it in the championship all season gets shut out.

Well they are probably better than the Championship reefs still .

Maybe not saying much !
