Yeah very much out of his depth at top international level.

Gotta disagree. I don’t think he’s looked any worse (or better) than any of the others tonight.
Really like Sandro Tonali. Cultured midfielder even at only 24

This shows that we're very much on Italy's level; whether that's a good thing or not, who knows.

Think it is a fairly young new team for Italy looking to the future .

This half has been very dull have to say .

This is very much a developmental Italian side. Most of them are young players looking to the future.
At their best, they’d have Bastoni playing, Zaniolo et al

The reality is if we don’t win this, we’d have not beaten pretty much the Italian B team to some extent

Not necessarily just tonight, but he's out of his depth at this level in general.

This is an utter pointless and pathetic game I’ve watched in a while. Drab England, Italy not interested in winning and we’ll organised.

Nations league is just an unnecessary waste of time, if I’m honest.

Some games have been decent. It's not just all about England.

This tournament can’t end early enough

Call it what it is… garbage

Wakes for example seem to like a late goal !

Trouble is if we aren’t going to win the whole thing this isn’t going to attract much interest as we won’t need to rely on the tournament to qualify for major events .

It’s handy for Southgate that he has credit in the bank.
If we’d only just appointed him as manager and watching this nonsense I think we’d all be saying wtf

I know we all wanted Maddison to play but even he'd have struggled today. Firstly because Italy were defensively and organisationally sound. And secondly because England just looked dead on their feet and lost as for ways to even get the ball into the final third.

Still a waste of time this nations league. Any team to only score 1 goal in 3 games is Norwich form.

If they weren't playing Nations League they'd be playing friendlies. Obviously we'd rather there wasn't any internationals at all but sure any kind of competition is better than friendlies?

Genuine question, I've heard the stories of Paolo Rossi and Brazil and I remember watching the 0-0 in Rome as a 9 year old which was more suspenseful than entertaining. Has there ever been a game of football with the Italian National team that has been entertaining or exciting? That doesn't just apply to games against England. It's always just bitty, scrappy, cheap fouls, dives etc. They are the worst in the world for it imo

Its no different to anything hes done since he's been in charge

Hes just been fortunate to have the much better team in the majority of games

This is why I find people that judge based on results over performances infuriating

You can fluke good results short term, but the performances are a more accurate representation of where the team is at
