Pretty sure we can discount Evans signing a new deal. He all but confirmed there’s no interest from the club in his post-match interview.

Hamza should stay. He was decent on loan at Watford before the injury. His tough tackling will be useful in the Championship and he actually cares about the club. Him and KDH could build a useful partnership.

edit - not sure why this quoted you RoboFox 🤣

To be fair, there are 46 games to play next season in the League alone, before you think about the additional cup games. Evans is 35, and i reckon he could probably get through about 15 of those in a good season. Little point even having the conversation about renewing.

Agree with most of this:

We need to get as much as possible for Barnes & Maddison - I think Catagne, Ndidi & Praet should have have enough of a Premier League track record to attract reasonable money and to clear from the wage bill - and we just need to get rid by any means of Vestergaard & Ward as nobody will want to touch them.

I honestly can't see we'll be in a position to spend any money on transfer fees, but even without any additions that gives a possible 11 for next year of:

                              Iheanacho  -   Daka

Soumare -  Choudhury   -  Dewsbury Hall

Kristiansen - Thomas   -  Faes   - Soutter    - Periera

                                           Iverson

Bench: Vardy, Albrighton

Losing 15 wages & getting 5 transfer fees in... could do enough financially to avoid a complete fire sale, and I think there is a pretty good side in there for the Championship. Despite what I wrote in another thread, I think our 11 looks a different proposition keeping Nacho... you need a good focal point as a striker in the Championship, and we'd be very lucky to find the right player in the bargain bins.

I do think we will need to see an experienced head on a free transfer to come into midfield (in the Garry Parker mould) and would love to have Evans return on a player/coach contract, but you do look at the squad we have & I can see a way forward despite the coming cull.

Looking at that 11 it does look very flaky. Not sure we are tough enough for 46 games with that team.

We will need some decent loan players.

In my opinion, we should be going all out to keep Barnes, his contract still has two years on it meaning we could keep him for a promotion push and still get come something for him in the following Summer.

I would bring Hamza back into the fold and/or resign Mendy if possible. Some of the free agent outgoings will already reduce the wage bill by quite a bit. I’d then look to sell those who haven’t been able to contribute in their time here e.g., get rid of Daka and Soumare irrespective of the price since they are vastly depreciating assets as it is. Promise Nacho the world and try and get him to sign a one/two year extension with a get out clause if we don’t immediately bounce back. Build the team around him and bring in another creative midfielder to balance us in the middle of the park following Maddison’s departure. A couple of shrewd loan signings, blood some players from the academy and we could have a competitive squad.

We'll need the physicality and bite in midfield, but I worry about leadership especially in the midfield.

Fitness will be key, too - lots of games, we're not going to have room for passengers.

Swap Soumaré for a gnarled old pro with an engine and I don't hate that lineup, although the left side of defence will need to work things out fast.

I think we'll be getting some young players on loan from Premier league clubs. The sort that need games like the KDH loan to Luton. I'd have thought that LCFC would be an attractive destination given the facilities at Seagrave (just don't tell 'em they'll return with an ACL).

Depends how crocked our finances are. He was our top scorer this season and we know he'd tear the Championship apart because he's done it once before. But if 50M is on the table the club will have to take it, especially as for FFP, homegrown sales count as pure profit.

this is where my head is at as well.  I think we need to keep either nacho or barnes to really give us that extra bit of class.

Given nachos contract, it’s barnes that makes the most sense

No way we should keep Barnes, it’s £50 mil!! We are going to be at least £110 mil down next season… sell him.. sell him now.. 2 years left on his contract he is more valuable to us than Maddison ATM

sorry, perhaps i should have clarified. It depends on the offer. But I don’t think i’d be happy with less than 50.

I agree, the biggest decision the club has at the minute is do they ‘gamble’ and keep as many big players as they can and hope we bounce back at the first attempt or have a fire sale and start all over again.

Definitely a red, can't see him being sold to any club that he'd accept an offer from. Assuming that clubs do their due diligence we'd be hard pressed to receive offers from league two clubs or better, Ward is clearly a one man relegation machine - I'd bet on him getting my son's u12 side relegated.

I really don't know why you think in our position, someone is going to sail in and pay 50m for him! That's a bizarre calculation, were now in a buyer's market! We'd get 30m absolutely max and no more than 40m for Maddison imo. Let's just see eh. We've over valued many of our squad out of loyalty for a long time now. I remember deluded individuals believing Tielemans was the next best thing and worth 60m 🤣🤣. No-one even wanted him on the cheap or even a free 🤣. Time for a bit of realism I fear both in terms of the deluded perceived quality of some of our players and our position in the market within which we will now be operating  perhaps?

We will see but two English qualified international level talents both under contract …..I think £45m for Barnes and £50m at least for Maddison so good deals should be £100m+ combined ….anything less and we will have sold ourselves short imo

I don’t see it like this at all.

Neither player will want to stay at Leicester and I’m not sure we could afford their wages.

We are in no position to be charging top dollar for players like these.

We need the transfer fees to re-invest in the playing side VERY quickly. Dragging out the sale of Maddison all summer, to be wanting an extra five mill here or there, would do neither party any good.

We need to ask an acceptable fee and get the sales done because we need a squad! And a squad capable of competing in the second tier AND who want to be here. Ie be up for the fight.

It’s for reasons like this I’d love to see Pearson back at the club. He’d sell the players who haven’t a future here and re-assemble HIS squad pretty quickly.
Dragging out transfers this summer would be folly. We literally haven’t the time to do so.

If we could somehow convince Barnes to stay then I would fvck him off the wing and play him up top. He’ll bag for fun in the Championship.

I do not disagree but when have we done this previously ….I fear we will be in for a very very long summer and this will drag into preseason

No way Barnes would be happy to stay and play in the championship and considering he will have to accept a wage cut due to the relegation clause in his contract.

There will be a few clubs in for him considering he's 25 and getting 10 goals / 10 assists in a team that got relegated.

I don’t think he’s going to stay but i’d hope for it. At the end of the day he’s under contract. It is our call and if we don’t want to accept a low ball offer we are entitled to say no. Even if it’s just keeping him until Jan.

I don’t think any of the players deserve the opportunity to leave as they please other than Vardy. If it doesn’t work for us… screw them.

Of course, financially he is in the top 2 of our assets so we will likely want to sell him. But if teams piss around with 35m offers, they can jog on imo
