Can anyone remember the last time we signed someone?

Are the club gambling on going into the new season without European competition and hopefully no broken legs, so no signings needed?

 

LCFC do like to do business quietly, but it's almost a year since we signed anyone, and that was a pair of Southampton rejects :(

Can everyone remember that for 2 out of the last 3 years we were challenging for Champions League places with almost the same squad?

 

And even though last year was dogshit, we got to a European semi-final and almost qualified for Europe again through the league.

 

Having followed us for over 30 years, I'd rather have a couple of seasons where we consolidate, take stock of the world and protect the future of the club.

 

Maybe that's just me.

I'll elaborate a bit more...

 

We're nowhere near the revenue of the "top 6" (hate that phrase) and its frustrating that we haven't signed anyone to improve the squad or add competition. 

 

But we can only have a 25 man squad, I believe some have to be classed as homegrown too.

 

Justin, Ricardo, Evans and Fofana will be like new players after having a full pre-season, which they've all been denied of last year.

 

Maybe Cags will have some confidence again? Maybe he won't.

 

Praet could come back in and look like a new signing. I'd give him a chance, he's never let us down.

 

Daka more settled hopefully.

 

Yeah, it would be great to go and spunk £50m on a superstar, but we can't.

 

I remember the administration years, buy your match ticket and chuck a £20 note in a bucket outside the ground to keep us going.

 

Hopefully, with less injuries and a proper pre-season, this squad can be firing.

He played quite a few games in the first part of that first season at the Walkers Stadium. He scored against Gillingham, a header from pretty much under the crossbar.

I think everyone at the club underestimated how hard it would be to offload our players.

I think when those comments were made he was aware Tielemans, Soyuncu and Mendy as well as some of the dead wood would be leaving. So when he made those comments I think it was reasonable to assume their would be some fresh faces coming in. 
The bids for those players haven’t come in and players haven’t left, which has made it impossible for new arrivals to come in.

Can anyone remember the last time we won the league with a bunch of players no-one had heard of with a manager who was on his last legs and a barethread squad size. If we can keep the players we have fit for the whole season, anything can happen.
