Can't think why people are offended by what he has said. It's a pretty honest appraisal of where the club is at the moment. Clearly, something is not right, and any neutral would see and say the same thing. The funding for new players has never until now been a problem for our present owners so why the complete lack of signings? Why was the manager telling all and sundry only a few weeks ago about a refresh of the squad with several new players coming in only to then back away from what he said?

I think the real truth is we no longer have the financial strength we had due to King power group being in a recessional period brought on by the two-year covid no travel around the world and its effect on their incomes.I still think we have got a good enough squad to see us through this season but obviously, that depends on injuries. Next season will be the real benchmark on what direction we are moving.

Its all about the wages.  If Kasper and Youri leave we will see movement.

Am I just heads in the clouds, or is it not just because the new european FFP is measured on wages to revenue. Surely we are just taking these steps because we actually think we can reach europe, it’s not because we are short of cash.

It would be easy to look and think we’ll just use some of the transfer funds to pay the wages but it isn’t a cash flow problem it’s more down to attempting to comply with the new laws.

maybe i’ve got this wrong and we are more up the creak but that’s how i’ve interpreted everything

Very unsound argument but interesting to see where 'neutrals' land on the squad during such a quiet summer.

I’m not clicking that nonsense link, who on earth wrote that prediction?

I mean, what was their research on this topic and are they really that moronic to think that Leicester would part company with Schemeichel, Tielemans, Fofana and Maddison all in the same window?

idiots!

We have a bloated wage bill and need to carefully manage it to comply with FFP rules. That’s it - that’s the thing that’s ‘not right’. As soon as players start to leave, new ones will arrive.

Ok , well it's " not right " that it should have ever gotten like that then. Problems of our own making?

Problems arising from bottling a top four place for two seasons running, then getting slammed by a massive injury crisis the following season.

It’s not really though is it… it clearly says if they sell Schmeichel, Fofana, Maddison and Tielemans they could be in trouble - well no shite - if any club outside the top six sells there four best players, with our replacements, they could be in trouble, it doesn’t mean we will.
It then goes on to stay with an ageing team - let’s say when Kasper goes, if we don’t replace him arguably our first choice 11 is

Iversen - 25

Castagne - 26

Fofana - 21

Evans - 34

Justin - 24

Ndidi - 25

Tielemans -25

KDH - 23

Maddison - 25

Barnes - 24

Vardy - 35

Bench

Ward - 29

Ricardo 28

Soyuncu 26

Daka 23

Iheanacho 25

Amartey 27

Mendy 30

That’s hardly an ageing squad is it?

The final point is about players being out of contract. That will have no bearing on this season. Of the out of contract players only Vardy and Evans I would expect to sign new contracts, the rest Perez, Amartey, Choudhury and Bertrand will all leave either this season or next and have no real affect on the overall quality of the squad.

Again we may not have brought in any players, but we are starting the season with a better squad of players available to play than we did last season. I can think of at least 4 clubs who due to players leaving, on paper appear to have weaker squads than they started last season with.

Yes but you know that not strengthening the squad could be very costly because we all know it does need strengthening. Putting a spin on things does not allay the fears most fans have about the coming season.

So it's not the fact we have been paying silly wages to mediocre players then, and now can't get rid of them? Or having a manager who bottled those two top four places there for the asking?

So who in the wages department got us into such a mess we can't afford to buy new players?

Regardless of lack of additions, there are at least three worse teams than us.

If the worst happened Kasper, maddison, fofana and tielemans go and we sign no one… yes ridiculous

We still have Vardy, KDH, Evans, Ndidi, Justin, Ricardo, Barnes… players that are more than capable we were mid table with many injuries last season

If Kasper doesn’t go we could have a starting side including schmeichel, evans, Albrighton and vardy. By January that’s an XI including two 36 year olds, a 35 year old and a 33 year old. I don’t think the ageing side comment is without basis.

We won’t go down though, can’t see us finishing lower than 10th.

I’m not offended by the prediction though I agree with the sceptics about these kind of articles. They are usually about how many new players have been signed and at what cost ..

But ….I fear for an already chaotic defence without Kasper or someone of his stature - bedding in not in pre-season but in competitive matches. If we lose Tielemans that’s another part of the spine gone and if Chelsea won’t take no for an answer for Fofana and the guy says he’ll go -.well that’s the spine gone - and with very little time to find decent replacements or for any replacements to bed in. That is quite a dangerous situation - ship a few goals and drop a lot of points early on in the  season and we could be struggling to find momentum.

I hope none of the above happens - if we can get the keeper situation sorted and everyone else stays - we have the basis for a decent season but that’s a lot of ifs

Why are they even talking about us selling Maddison this season!?

If Kasper doesn’t leave that’s 4 players in the squad over 30, one of them a goalkeeper- it’s hardly the definition of an ageing squad is it?

Because it’s all made up to look like the worst case scenario.

We're gonna win the league!!!

I know, right? Close season turmoil, probably losing our best creative midfielder, and now tipped for relegation! We are gonna win by 10 pts!

No it’s not, but he said ageing team. If we picked an XI with the 4 mentioned, I would consider that an ageing team.
