Very unsound argument but interesting to see where 'neutrals' land on the squad during such a quiet summer.

We might have expected work to begin on rebuilding this summer, but this hasn’t happened. Seven weeks after the transfer window opened, Leicester are the only Premier League club not to have brought in any new players, and it somewhat surprising that the club has been so inert in the transfer market when a lot of work needs to be done, not only for the season to come, but also for the one after that.

 

Brendan Rodgers is an able enough manager, but losing Schmeichel, Tielemans and Fofana in one window would be extremely difficult to replace. Leicester have an ageing team with a lot of players out of contract and don’t seem to be doing a great deal to refresh their squad. If Rodgers’ patience snaps, Leicester could find themselves in considerable trouble next season, but their supporters can take a crumb of comfort from my pessimistic assessment: the last time I predicted Leicester to be relegated from the Premier League, they won it.

Seems like the article has served its purpose, if you’re linking them giving them clicks and ad revenue over a nothing article.

So he reckons we're getting relegated because:

  • Some of our players theoretically could leave and we could theoretically not replace them
  • We've got players out of contract next year
  • Our team, seemingly unique among all other teams in the league, is getting older - this also coming two days after he wrote an article on how players are aging better

I look forward to us actually going down and this coming back to haunt me but it does seem pretty obvious that the author has decided he thinks we're getting relegated, realised he can't actually think of any good reasons why but just gone for it anyway.

I don't think we're exactly flipping an iceberg sending tens of views their way. But yes, these things are often bad to make you click.

That's it. I'm placing a £100 bet for us to win the league. The whole article is a copy-paste from a similar one in summer 2015, they've just changed the player names. 

Can't wait for the NBC Sports pundits predictions for relegation also. Might double the bet afterwards.

I wouldn't have thought that he actually 'thinks' that we'll be relegated, more likely he 'wants' us to be relegated. We are still living rent free in some of their heads but they did actually win the league in 2016 because of the amount of possession they had.

It's like with the people who put money on us to win the league at the start of 15/16, I still think they were idiots and if we are relegated I'll still think this guy's an idiot, there is no logical basis for predicting we will finish in the bottom 3.

The most depressing part of that article is the fact it's headline says "the other 14 clubs".

 

Despite us finishing 5th two seasons in a row and winning the Premier League 6 years ago.

 

They know it's a closed shop up the top.

 

Instead of sneering at us for trying to disrupt that they should be laying in to the Sinister Six clubs that wanted to break away and keep the door closed.

My brother in law and father in law definitely care, I suspect they would love it if that happened. I watched the cup match round the in laws, watching that game was very painful.
