Think Southampton look awful so expecting 3 points. We have better players all over the pitch.

Arsenal will be a tough game and not expecting anything. Chelsea and Man Utd however we have a chance for points.

6 points from the first 5 games is ok considering the fixtures. But I think we will be surprised with possibly 9 or 10.

Yeah I’m actually very optimistic I could see us getting maybe 9 points from the opening 5. I’m just very aware that things could go wrong quickly with the fixture list. With how the summer has gone (I don’t think no incomings is an issue if we don’t lose anyone else) the negativity from outside the club and fans will only get worse if we start badly. It’s just not going to be ideal especially as I get the sense any transfer business we do will be late and we don’t want potential signings put off.

Dare I say today is 'must win'. No, in a serious, we really need a positive performance and result. Will shut many people up.

As must win as any opening game could be I think.

I've got that excited belly again this morning. Sadly living miles away will have to stream this one but hope to get to the kp soon.

Just for balance, I’ve rarely felt less excited.

I’m not pessimistic about the game, the window or the season, just struggling to summon up any enthusiasm for watching footy just a few weeks after last season finally and thankfully ended.

I guess I need a refresh too.

Spent most of this summer feeling disheartened. However, some of the comments over this weekend by the so called experts all of a sudden fill me with optimism. I love it when they write us off.

come on boys!!

Can't wait to get on with it and get points on the board. The build up has been so negative considering our decent pre-season form. Time to talk football rather than Brendan's recently signed contract

Need to win to piss these pundits off. They all hate Leicester 🤣🤣

Often when fans moan about media bias they’re just being paranoid, but recently it really does feel as if everybody expects us and wants us to fail this season. I really hope we ram it down their throats, starting today.

About that, Skysports feature Jones Knows prediction:

Forgive and forget. That's my motto with Leicester City and their underperformance last season. They finished a disappointing eighth in the Premier League last term, picking up 52 points. It was a 12-point underachievement on what we had seen from Brendan Rodgers' side in the two previous seasons. Key defensive injuries cost them the opportunity to play Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans together as a partnership last season. That was massive. Having a fully-fit Fofana ready to go from the first whistle is an exciting prospect. To my eye, he's the best young centre-back in world football. No wonder Chelsea are toying with the idea of paying £80m for him.

With a far more settled side and no European football to negotiate, there is enough quality in the dugout in Rodgers and in his exciting young side to really kick-on again this season. Read here why I'm backing them for a top-six finish and if they are going to be capable of those heights, Brentford really shouldn't be giving them too many problems.

SCORE PREDICTION: 2-0

Spouting some right shite on Talk Sport this morning about how Brentford are going to win comfortably today because we’re a team in crisis.

I get the feeling from the pre season interviews that we intended to play mainly with Castagne or Ricardo on the right wing. Barnes on the left. With the wing play being a little more creative. However with both Ricardo out and Barnes injured, we are likely to use wing backs in a back 5.

Should be OK if the wing backs play further up in offence and drop back when defending. Justin looks fit and sharp in pre season.

Back 5 doesn't necessary mean the team is set up with caution. Probably just utilising what we have available to give us the best chance of 3 points.

The theory is sound, the reality is that they don't do it and with them, the back 3 and other midfielders, they just clogg the midfield area, play short passes to each other and put themselves under pressure before the opposition inevitably intercept the ball or we make a wayward pass.

Could be tricky. Brentford above us in the table.

Good point. Perhaps we'd best lure the bees away. We stand a better chance over rentford.

and if we win it will  because we’ve used the crisis to create a siege mentality !

the narrative for the season is already set in a lot of these guy’s minds …..   a lot of them are ex players - they don’t really have the mental capacity to think too much nor the need to do any proper research.

I’d take that. Is Ward injured still? Would be moronic to whack him in goal after no preseason and given he’s looking a bit rounder than normal.

With that said, I still think it’s moronic to give him #1 😂

The exact 11 I'd use, assuming Ward isn't considered match ready.  Which means it'll never happen.

Picking the team it’s pretty clear where our squad problems are. In central midfield we have Ndidi, Hamza, KDH, Soumare, Praet, Maddison, Tielemans and Mendy (8) and on the wings we have Perez, Barnes and Albrighton (3). So it’s looking like either a 352 or narrow midfield diamond today.
