Why does there appear to be financial problems, is it down to the 10’s of millions spent on Seagrave?

100 million, plus money required for the new stand as a guess, I think we’re also mindful of ffp. On the flip side, with a fully fit team, it’s like having new signings for us.

Most of the soothsayers on here claim we are doomed. Itis to do with FFP. We pay over the top in wages and can’t bring anyone in until we ship out. Kasper has gone saves £130k a week. Now if we can get shot of the likes of Vestergaard and Hamza that would free up approx£140k a week and make it more viable to bring some one in. That on top of Youri’s wages if he goes

Club needs to get down from 105% wages to turnover towards 90% within two seasons is the bottom line.

90% next calendar year 2023

we need to buy younger players on lower wages to replace the out of contract group

I would prefer 4 at the back and think Praet and Castagne on the right side could be a good partnership. We need Maddison in the middle of the action, so guess I am hoping for something like this:

Iversen/Ward

Castagne - Fofana - Evans - JJ

Ndidi - KDH

Praet - Maddison - Albrighton

Vardy

Mostly I would go with this but what about Daka in for Albrighton and Daka play the Barnes role?

Not sure Daka playing on the wing is the best idea. His overall game seems to be lacking a little for that, Also Albrighton's work rate and energy might also not be the worst thing in an intense season opener.

....no, let us do not go down the road of square pegs in round holes!!!

We do not appear to be bringing through any wingers and the closest would be Maswanhise who we tend to keep wide at times in the U23s. Not sure if there is a policy in recruitment that looks for certain types of players and ignores developing wide players.

Maybe you are right but we need pace

If Barnes is injured we absolutely have to be playing two strikers it's as simple as that.

Can't start the season with Perez and Albrighton as 2/3rds of our attack and Praet doesn't belong within a country mile of the starting lineup however much of a weird cult following he gets on here.

Gillett is a good ref.

Hopefully there's no close shaves and it can be a comfortable win...

mm I found him quick to his whistle when he reffed us the once before. Likes a broken up game iirc

Should really be winning this if we want to meet our objectives this season of European football.

                            Iversen

             Amartey  Evans   Fofana

     Castagne   Soumare  KDH   Justin

                          Maddison

               Daka                   Vardy

3-1 W

A tricky season or 2 ahead. However if and it’s a big if, we can keep key players fit we should be good enough to at least equal last season’s effort.

He'll end up playing some horrid 5-3-1-1 with Maddison behind Vardy

Not a great start for us on the injury front. I think we’ll struggle on Sunday but hopefully nick a 1-0 win possibly against the run of play. A bit of Madders magic.

I can’t see this being the side. Why Soumare? Is Wilf injured? I hope Praet is in and I don’t think he starts Daka. Surely Youri has to start too?

We've got to take the game to them and press home our advantage.

                    Iversen

Castagne Fofana Evans Justin

                      Ndidi

    Albrighton            Kdh

                  Maddison

           Vardy           Daka

I don't see Mark lasting 90 minutes in a high tempo game like in the friendlies. So that creates an opportunity to move players around and bring in Praet or Iheanachio or even Perez.

Despite all of the recent upheavel,  I'm still confident we will get off to a winning start.
