I would prefer 4 at the back and think Praet and Castagne on the right side could be a good partnership. We need Maddison in the middle of the action, so guess I am hoping for something like this:

I would be very surprised if it wasn't 3 at the back given Albrighton is our only fit senior winger.

With the injury to Barnes then the 3-4-1-2 is the obvious choice. The only debates really is Amartey or Soyuncu ? Tielemans or KHD ? Daka or Iheanacho. Rest of the team picks itself

We could go 4.3.3 and play a front 3 instead of our version of 4.3.3 which is more like a 4. 5. 1 as our front 3 is two wingers/midfielders. So we could play a front 3 of Iheanacho in the middle with Vardy on the left and Daka on the right. It will never happen of course.

Our width is going to have to come from our FB’s, so either a back 3 or diamond. Rodgers has rarely gone with a diamond here but could work with Praet and KDH either side of Wilf. Don’t think Tielemans would work in this formation. Or a back 3 in which case I think we’re better off without Ndidi with either Tielemans or Soumaré partnering KDH.

I see Iheanacho on the right Daka  on the left and Vardy in the middle as quite feasible if we are chasing the game but we need our strongest midfield to start a game.That remains Ndidi, KDH, Tielemans and Maddison.

This for me, more or less, but I would still include Tielemans over Praet.

I like it but I can’t justify dropping KDH he’s the engine. So KDH in for Praet but Praets my first sub, whether it’s for madders or KDH. Unless Youri staying he doesn’t get on the pitch unless we desperate.

....we have thrown forwards on before to chase the game but we were very incohesive!!!

A two upfront should be Vardy and Nacho, Daka does not work too well with either and is not a presence on his own up front. Someone like CDK would have linked very well with Daka upfront, that is why I am disappointed that we could not have picked him up.

  The bad news about Barnes is it makes us have to make adjustments away from how we wish to play.

....with Ricardo's diagnosis and Barnes out for a while, he (Fofana) starts and picks up an injury that takes him out for months!!!

There is then a big question mark about him not being resilient and his value drops significantly, I just can't believe our problems from last year are continuing.

I agree. To be honest KDH slipped my mind. Excellent last season so probably goes in infront of Praet.
