....you would think this situation would be a wake-up call, and the 10 pages of posts are sarcasm due to frustration!!!

If we are going to be genuinely excited by bringing this player in, it proves whoever is calling the shots at the moment should not be in their post. Are we going to continue doing what we are doing by overindulging and finding roles where one should not exist?

  All these smacks of blinding stupidity and it helps no one but continues to exacerbate our problems, compounding the mess that we are presently supposedly trying to extricate ourselves from.

My mate who works at the club says Brendan wants a 4th choice keeper as well! This person will need even more experience than the 3rd choice. The 4th choice should ideally have experience being a 3rd choice so that they can pass on first hand knowledge of the role.

 

There's even talk of bringing Jakupavic back but he's playing hard to get and will want a decent wedge.

Isn't this another ryan bennett scenario?  Buy someone cheap to make up the squad... and then find we have to play them in key games?

I don't think anybody is 'excited' by this signing but people can definitely understand the practicalities of it.

 

We have Ward and Iversen fighting for first choice. We don't want Stolarczyk, Odunze, Doherty, Young or Chibueze sitting on the bench as third choice doing nothing. We want them either playing games for the U18s or U21s if that's their level, or going out on loan to further their experience so they can either (a) challenge for a first-team spot in the next few years or so, or (b) create a demand for themselves so we can bring a decent chunk of money in for them.

It's amazing how many so-called football fans don't understand the reasons behind this move. Also, he's not a bad keeper - I feel like as a 3rd choice keeper he's an upgrade on Jakupovic

Also at 32 he's potentially someone we could have in the role for 5/6 years, saving us going through this again for quite some time.

 . It is not a case of understanding the situation!!!

  Ward is our number #1, Iversen becomes our #2, how many games did Kasper miss, while he was here.

  The plethora of keepers on our books are so poor you have to question who spots them and then chooses to bring them in. The recent performance of our keeper in the U21 highlights the dire quality that we have. His handling of the ball and kicking with the ball at his feet was woeful. Kicking with his left foot I felt was him using his weakest foot, the commentator stated it was his better foot, it was unreal.

 Apart from Stolarczyk and possibly Young,  we should drop the rest and look again (academy keepers only).

It would appear that some people think he isn't a very good keeper.

He's actually quite good. Just a little quick research will tell you that he is highly regarded.

Some great saves on YouTube, and can save a pen.

In the running for player of the season at Cardiff. Players player at QPR

Certainly better than Jakupovic, IMO, therefore we've strengthen that position (third choice keeper) in the squad.

Just because Schmeichel played for God knows how many years without an injury doesn't mean that Ward and Iversen will. We may be grateful to have a competent 3rd choice keeper.
