What has happened to the wage structure at LCFC. It seems we are paying well beyond what they are worth, a few years ago we seemed to have a strict wage plan. I have no problem with top players getting top wages.

Vestergaard 70k a week

Parson Daka 89k w a week

Ryan Bertrand 60k a week

Dennis Praet 77k a week

Soumare 85k a week

Ayoze perez 83k a week

(all reported wages are from various websites so may not be 100% accurate)

This is why we are in such a mess financially, who is responsible for giving such huge wages?

There is nowhere you can reliably get wage data from so this is all guesswork. Yes, in general our spend on wages is higher than most, but we’ve also achieved a lot more than the rest of the teams we’ve been competing with over the last few years. How do you expect us to get that success without spending money?

I see you’ve disregarded transfer fees spent which is significantly lower than a lot of the teams in the league and not just the ones in the top half that we’ve been competing with.

It’s clearly gone wrong atm, but it’s not the end of the world.

None of us have a fvcking clue what players at our club earn, so what's the point in throwing out blame culture again based on information that might not even be accurate?

OK reported wages but they wouldn't be far off. The whole reason we are in trouble financially and FFP is our wage bill is far too high. Just look at Vestergaard not accepting the transfer as he would probably have been on 20k less a week.

We actually don’t know if this is good or bad unless we compare them to what other clubs are paying.

So for example, what would a 4th choice CB, back up striker/ midfielder be paid at Everton, Villa, West Ham etc.

I’ve said this numerous times. If we wanted him to leave, and the wage was the issue, we would subside it over his next contract at another club. This happens all the time and is how clubs get high earning players off their wage bill. Vesty probably chose to stay because the two clubs that came in for him were favourites for relation, and that would definitely effect his wage.

We know the average salary is 90k odd, tells you what you need to know. The above figures won’t be far from the mark at all.

I'm not buying that.  FA Cup winners, European competition and two consecutive top 5 finishes should be enough to lure players away from Southampton, Newcastle (2018), Salzburg etc without having to offer ridiculous wages.

Rudkin needs to be held to account here.

The thing is, we don't know that though. Remember the word "know" indicates factual information, which you don't have.

Nobody knows. Nobody here has a clue.

No, we don't know that at all. As I said the other day...

The wages that get published include pensions and NIC contributions for 77 players, 295 casual staff, 358 "admin" staff including directors etc. It'll include bonuses for goals, league finishes, cup progression, cup wins and god knows how many other bits. Along with £9.5m benefits in kind, that can include meals, cars, healthcare, accommodation, gifts, phones and a thousand other things.

I'm not sure how anyone can come to any conclusion on what anyone earns, on average or not as we simply don't know all the other variables.

We still pay less than the "big six" even Spurs. Every year we are supposed to aspire to their status. Money totally rules the game and if we don't pay , we will not have the quality of players to compete. Financing this level of pay with a small stadium and lack of commercial clout is an extraordinarily difficult task.

There's no way Perez is on 80 bags a week

Gambled on champions league without recruiting champions league players but paying them that level of wages.

As others have said, it will be Rudkin but more than likely with some outside influence.

Salaries in the game are revolting everywhere. To turn Fofana's head Chelsea are not only rumored to be offering north of 200k a week, they are plastering it all over Social Media. The top clubs find it easier to pay the crazy salaries, and find it easier to offload talent that isn't working. The big clubs approach has pushed the salaries up of the next tier of clubs as they attempt to compete, paying emerging talent what they might be worth rather than what they are worth. When it doesn't work (Soumare) it hurts.

I actually think our inability to keep players fit is the biggest issue here.

Our model previously was a small squad with young players with an emphasis on keeping them fit - there were a number of articles at the time based on this and Rodgers even said he'd like to have a small squad.

In the last two seasons we've added a number of senior pros and moved away from the younger up and coming model.

The fact we've been unable to keep our players fit is a bigger issue than just keeping our best 11 on the pitch.

And yes I do blame Rodgers for that as he brought in his own doc and physio and has an appalling injury record everywhere he's been.

Top clubs tap up players by using the media. They do it as they know they can get away with it as they can claim it hasn’t come from them…it was ‘leaked’.

Only a matter of time before a PL club goes bust!.... just hope it's not us.

...the wages being paid is obscene and immoral.

Tbh mate, even if we were included in that, I'd be ok with it over the long term. The likes of Bury, Macclesfield, Aldershot, Wimbledon have all shown us that fans can make clubs happen.

Yes, it would be devastating for the club and league to see one fold but I have more faith in fans to make a club than any billionaire.

Pay a premium for players like vestergaard, Bertrand and Perez? I don’t think so. Choudhury on 60k a week who on earth gives him that other than us. Amartey on reportedly 57k a week. Our wage bill is absolute negligence. We are probably paying the price for a successful near enough decade, but the wages some of these players are on just goes to show poor recruitment policy

Instead of signing squad fillers like Vestergaard and Bertrand on big wages, we should promote some youngsters.

Feels like such an obvious solution, especially when we have so many good talents in the academy. Maswanhise should be in the first team as back up for Barnes.

Next summers rebuild:

Wormleighton to replace Ricardo

Brunt to replace Vestergaard

Braybrooke to replace Tielemans

Alves to replace Perez

I would love that but it today premier league I can’t really see that happening.
