Fofana training with Under 21s after failing to turn up to a training session

Its not just based on BR's comments is it though, no one is basing it solely on that.

For example he missed a training session, thats a fact from various sources, not something we are just believing because only Rodgers told us

yes but BR’s comments arent really helping. he could have said how Maguires transfer was all done before the season started so was a completely different situation, drawing attention to  how the window should end earlier and how ridiculous it is a team is able to bid on one of our players days before we play them, but he added fuel to the fire by commenting on Wesleys temperament making Chelsea less likely to match our asking price and making it harder for him to reintegrate into the team if he does end up staying

I've never understood the vitriol towards him TBH.  Hard to imagine a guy finessing the process of moving to a bigger club any better than he did.

I never did, but his brother certainly didn't help matters with how he was goading Leicester fans.

He got his move and was not playing up to get it... can't fault the guy and feel for him that he's not having the best of times at Man Utd.

For the Nth time, he literally did the same thing to St Etienne. How can people be this naive.

He didn't unless I remember it differently.

I'm sure he was doing all he could for the move off the pitch but made it clear he'd still be playing and wouldn't miss training etc.

He did all the pissing around on twitter and stuff but i'm sure he never went as far as he currently is.

That's right but I think had they turned it down again he would of.

Yep he’s got ideas above his station ffs.He knows deep down he’d be better off staying here for a year or two to develop. But no,the sulky little spoilt W….r like he is wants it all now.He needs to grow a pair and apologise to the team!

It’s quite clear we are going to leave him out until the transfer window is closed as he isn’t training with the team. If we haven’t accepted a bid from Chelsea then he will come back into the squad - he won’t have any choice to knuckle down as he won’t be getting a move until next year at the earliest.

Think Rodgers has handled it well to be honest

Yeah as I say IIRC he did all this sort of thing but was still playing/training and wasn't disrupting their dressing room.

He's definitely gone further in his attempts to go LCFC > CFC than he did when he moved from ASSE > LCFC.

I think we signed him from St Etienne when he was at the same sort of point as he was just after the Arsenal game.

we paid what they wanted (with the sell on they’ll end up with a bit more )

if Chelsea paid the 80/85 then this thread would be closed

that’s the difference

if players are going to effectively go on strike to get a move and the selling club don’t get the fee they want then the contract system is effectively broken. At the moment it’s fairly smashed up but this would break it completely.

I mean say Man City want sakha. Arsenal ask for £125m. Man City offer £90m. Sakha, having just signed a five year deal, refuses to play.  Clubs like Chelsea shouldn’t be blasé about this - it will happen to them too!

A solution is perhaps the Spanish model where every contract has a release clause. If players allow clubs to make those clauses ridiculously high then that’s their problem if a club come calling. The PFA should get involved in this too.

Not sure what else he could of done though.

He's being told from up above what's happening. So has little choice.

The PFA will only act in the interests of the player and stoke the flames. At least Gordon Taylor has now gone after his unforgivable role in almost sending our club to the grave. I'm aware of some of the positives of the PFA but to get them involved in this situation will not be helpful, in my opinion.

I think the only difference is that we were always much closer to what St. Etienne would accept. Had the negotiations lasted a little longer, I don’t doubt he would have stopped showing up

Not speaking about this specific instance - more in general. Contracts work both ways (as we can see with those we can’t move on). There is a danger that the whole contract structure could fall apart - that’s fine for the top earners but the vast majority of players will suffer. That’s why the PFA should take an interest generally

Well tell him that Brexit means he cannot leave for 5 years and we have it on a post-it from Bojo before he quit, so it’s totally legit

Well those Rodger’s comments today about the difference to maguire - wowsers - that’s huge - that absolutely hammers fofana and makes him out to be a class A  **** -  no way back from that - fofanas attitude is disgusting - full on mahrez- lost all respect for the lad - don’t care what age he is - respect is something our parents teach us as kids - he has treated our club , his fellow team mates and all of us with a complete lack of respect- I hope I never see him in a city shirt ever again- 100% bin him in the u21s If Chelsea don’t pay what we want  bye bye World Cup - big kudos to our club and management for sticking to the price and kicking him out of the squad - one of the few things Rodger’s has got right recently - I for one completely disown the ungrateful little ********

I know he did this at St Etienne. That doesn’t mean I can’t be pissed about it.

Oh absolutely. But being pissed off and being surprised are different things.

I agree, I suspect he'd have gone this far to move to us.

I'm just saying he actually has gone further with his attempts to move to Chelsea than he did when he tried to move to us.

I honestly dont think it would put Chelsea off, likewise it didnt put us off when he spat his dummy out at St Etienne.

Indeed. There's an assumption made that Fofana's pushing made a difference. We don't know that. The clubs agreed a price, that much we do know.
