I wake up every day looking for some Leicester positives and it's completely devoid of any... and it's been like that for a while now and it's making me a bit upset and I'm sure it must be affecting others in different ways.

Rodgers looked absolutely deflated in his press conference recently,  he even said something that really annoyed me -  I'll try not to paraphrase him, but It was something like "there's bigger things in life to worry about"

Well Brendan - that's not what I want to hear from the guy at the helm when we're free falling with no apparent soul.

I just think with all the stuff going on in the world your football club should be your beacon of hope at times or at least appear to be.

It seems like we're going out our way not to be that beacon of hope. It just seems an utter mess in so many ways.

All due respect mate, but I think it’s dangerous to pin so much of your own mental well-being on something you ultimately can’t control.

In the grand scheme of things, Leicester City being good is pretty minuscule when you think about it. But at the same time I’d hate to make it seem like I was telling you how to feel, the above is just my take on it.

If it’s making you feel bad, I’m here for a chat if you need it, and I’m sure plenty of others too. It’s sometimes good to talk and just unload and at the same time, we’re all going through this period of the club being a shambles together aren’t we? We’ve all got common ground.

I think if you’re mad keen on football then having your club doing well DOES give you a boost.

But Christ, there’s more important things in life than this

When I came in to this thread I wasn't expecting this from the OP in response to a quote which 1) is fair enough and 2) could be something of a hint that there is stuff going on in his mind? lol

What ever is happening with the team and the club there are fans of so many other teams that have it much much worse. You have to try and disassociate what is happening with the club with what is going on in your own life. As a Leicester fan we have seen so many ups and downs and that is the price we pay of being a lifelong fan. We can't control what is going on with the team and the club we can only control how we react to it.

After supporting City since 1972 and never thinking it would happen - winning the Prem and then the FA Cup - means I am as chilled as fck.

Whatever happens now I can just relax and enjoy.

Just gonna put this out there, there may be “more important things in life” I do agree, but you don’t know how much the football can affect each individual, and some people can shrug it off others can’t as easily.

Yeah that’s absolutely true mate. I’ve been lucky I guess. Even during my youth and most ardent years of being a City fan, I could separate dejection at football from my everyday well being. Although tbh it took a lot to get over the play off against Swindon… 😩

But some people can’t. For some, football ‘fanism’ is a huge part of their lives. I’m sure I read that general levels of happiness are directly associated with how the football team is performing in Cities like Newcastle for instance.

The older I get, the less bothered I become with it. And the more money gets thrown at top level football, the more I dislike it. But you’re right, that ain’t the same for all of us.

I remember a group of us in the boozer (all 50 somethings) saying exactly that after we won the Prem. That’s it, it don’t get better than that for us City fans of 40 odd years. It has to go downhill now. And it has of course.

Mental health aside briefly, our manager is basically shrugging and saying it's only football. Yeah, true, but the club pays him a lot of money and a lot of people care quite a bit that he does his very best at the football.

Obviously there are more important things, it goes without saying. I do not want to hear that from the manager. Bloke has given up and we're just letting him pick up his massive pay packet. Make it make sense.

I wouldn't be able to get away with that sort of attitude in my line of work and there are considerably lower stakes than premier League football.

From someone who has been close to suicide, and also has a good friend in his early 30's in the last stages of incurable cancer, there are indeed bigger things in life to worry about.

Just so as you know, someone heard you,

None of us want relegation to happen but we've all had some great days watching us play outside the premier league. It's still football and still our club. We were disappointed to get knocked out of the Europa league but the Eindhoven trip was class even though it was a lesser competition. Sunshine in the square. Every cloud and all that. Don't think we'll go down anyway!

Im completely the same. Used to reel about results for days, ruin free time, now I’ve gotten that down to about 10 minutes and a deep breath 😂

Of course there are bigger things to worry about but those suffering with mental health issues know there are triggers, no matter how small it may seem. And football is definitely one of them for me. The week can be a long slog after a bad defeat and we've had them in abundance in recent years

Some really good advice in here. I’m typing this knowing I am fully at fault of this myself, but letting ultimately a bunch of millionaires who do not care for us or our passion dictate the way we feel is a waste of time.

Twitter, Instagram and the rolling news cycle are massively culpable here.

I've found myself checking in for City news multiple times per day recently, and took the step today of deleting some apps.

The difference between now and 20 years ago is that the club had problems then, but once you'd talked it to boredom in the pub you had to wait for Match of the Day or a newspaper article for any further fuel to speculation, or news.

The issues we're facing will play out over weeks - we're ruminating on them hour to hour, and our technology is facilitating that to a level that isn't healthy.

Against the backdrop of a volatile world, uncertainty politically and economically, war, and the mass psychological effects of the last few years we don't stand a chance unless we disconnect.

The world's no more scary or unpredictable than it was in the 1970s - a fuel crisis caused by the US-backed overthrowing of a government, unemployment, riots and protests - it's our proximity to the stress at our fingertips that'll put us into the grave if we let it.

Maybe you could take a few days off after the game tomorrow? It'll all still be here when you get back.

So true. Sometimes I just switch of from the news and everything that’s going on in the wider world for quite a while and live in my own little bubble unaware of anything that’s going on and it’s wonderful just going about my day oblivious to everything going on. People should try it.
