11th.

We'll be something like 14th before the World Cup break after a frustrating an inconsistent run. We'll come back after the WC and everything will click for a bit, Vardy and Barnes will go on a run of goal scoring form and we'll recover up to mid table. Then Vardy will get injured and we'll drop off the boil again before Iheanacho runs in to a purple patch of late season form to steady the ship.

Rodgers leaves by mutual consent at the end of the season as we agree to pay off something like 50-70% of his remaining contract. He'll be replaced by one of Frank, Potter or Cooper.

This sounds pretty realistic and believable!

Lots of people said last seasons 8th was a disappointment with our squad.

We have lost Kasper and Fofana who only played 7 games.

People know say squad would be lucky to get 17th!

People must think Kasper is one hell of a Keeper to make that much difference.

It’s as much about plenty of the teams around us spending big and getting several players in while we’re standing still as anyone we’ve lost tbf. Feels like we’re being left behind a bit.

Its the shift in mentality and momentum

thats the most alarming.

Rodgers had the whole summer to get on top of the issues we had last season and it seems to have gotten worse not better so far this season.

10th would be a real achievement.

I don't think it been help by a number of players wanting to move on.

The Fofana saga has been a massive distraction.

I think things will settle one the window shuts.

Like Villa and West Ham who have hardy set the world alight.

Without doubt success will be staying up.

The last few weeks have been painful - watching other teams buying players and getting stronger.  I accepted not buying anyone when I learned of the finance issue, but here we are, barely 24 hours from the deadline, and we've just sold our best defender and bought no one.  And now I hear Wolves are interested in Cags.  It just feels like the club wants to sell off the team to balance the books, but failing to acknowledge that we'll have zero chance of staying up if we rely on our current back line.  Literally no chance at all.

Is there anyone ITK who can tell me a signing is imminent, to make me feel better?

West Ham have spent £150m+ and are only starting their new signings now the last game or so. Of course they can all flop but it’s hard not to see at least a couple of them come good and their squad look improved.

We could had said the same last year.

There form has been pretty poor for a while, stretching back to last season.

Curse of European football for none elite clubs

We couldn’t say that last summer. We’ve never spent close to £150mil in a summer, even when we sold Maguire for £80mil, West Ham haven’t had a major outgoing either.

Clubs have pushed transfer spending to another level this summer while we’ve ground to a halt and it feels like we can’t even compete with Leeds, West Ham, Wolves, Aston Villa or Southampton on the spending front anymore, let alone the top 6. Only takes 2 or 3 transfer windows to be completely left behind.

Our we just need a reset, like Palace did last summer.

And then match these teams spending £100mil+ next summer? I can’t see it the way everything had ground to a halt. I think we’re behind left behind medium-term without serious investment

Or they could be in our position next season?

I think 10th is realistic....with some stability after fofani spitting his dummy and still a possibility youri will be off I think things will settle down...even with Rodgers who I think will be gone at the world cup break...if he is not allowed to spend a penny either he is gone or top is selling up or both imo

We might scrape 14th or 15th but relegation is a serious possibility. Right now I'm not overly bothered about the cups it is all about getting to 40 points. Relegation would be a huge financial problem.

If things carry on, as they are, and nothing happens with the current manager, we are in trouble, my only real expectation, at this juncture, is to survive in the Prem this season, the longer BR stays, with his bizarre ways the more self destructive we will become.  Surely he has had a warning by now, from Top, the message has to be, shape up, or ship out, stop moping around and press on!

Should've named this the "Typical FT Doom and Gloom With Occasional Positives" thread
