One scenario - we pull ourselves together and go on a winning run. Brendan's rep is restored, and he's snapped up by Chelsea/another. Likelihood 8%

Scenario two - we struggle all season long. No one comes in for Brendan, and we can't afford to pay him off. Likelihood 55%

Scenario three - a big takeover of the club. New funds mean we can buy players in 2023. Likelihood - no idea....

There are other scenarios of course.

It’s as much about plenty of the teams around us spending big and getting several players in while we’re standing still as anyone we’ve lost tbf. Feels like we’re being left behind a bit.

We're not just standing still this window but also in the previous window in which we spent a lot of money and improved the team not one jot.

We've been overtaken by the likes of Palace, West Ham and Brighton who are doing all of the things that we used to excel at like buying good young talent while we have inexplicably discarded the values that made us so successful,

My expectations would be a mid-table finish accompanied with promoting some youngster & thinning out the overpaid & underachieving vets.

I would also like Rodgers gone & replaced by a young forward thinking manager, preferably English.

We cannot compete with the insane spending that the big six are capable of but we should be able to discover young talent and develop them.

Lots of unknowns which will impact where we finish such as

1) Will Youri stay and give 100% (first part probably, second not so sure)?

2) Does BR stay and if he does somehow get us playing like in his first full season (doubtful)?

3) who do we bring in (do we bring a RW)?

4) Can Madders stay fit?

At the minute I am hoping mid-table but would take staying up and resetting next summer (with a new manager).

A relegation battle. Can’t decide if we survive or not.

If we can’t stop conceding 2 per game, we are doomed.

However, trying to be positive, we finish between 13th-17th.

Great post. The big six are now ridiculously so far ahead regarding spending power etc.

l just worry they will just hoover up all young talent, as well as spending billions on overseas superstars.
Chelsea, Man City, Utd & Liverpool seem to have endless pots of cash.
Only Newcastle’s controversial takeover will possibly see them compete in that regard.
Spurs & Arsenal will give it a go, but how long for ?
I know our title win gave others hope, but surely that’s now unreachable already……..a top 4 finish is talked about almost as fondly.

For a Leicester fan of 25 years.... 17th is always good.

That would be disastrous.  It would certainly not be good to throw away all our years of progress and just meekly accept that because we're Leicester and it's  better than relegation.

This kind of timid, passive thinking is similar to the infamous Rodgers over-achieving/happy to stay in the division comments which was the point that he lost me

We could always go into administration trying to stay up  and then go down never to return AKA Derby

Mid table and blood some youngsters whilst riding of dross. That’s the dream but we’ll probably sign more dross to block the path for the likes of Maswanhise and Braybrooke

Zero chance of that whilst Brendan is in charge. He has no interest in using some of the talented youth players we have in Braybrooke, Alves, Maswanhise. Meanwhile, look at Man City and Liverpool that regularly have youth players on the bench.

To say it would be disastrous to undo all of our progress doesn't mean that there aren't worse options, such as relegation.

I actually think that we are in decline and that relegation is a distinct possibility, my point really is that we should not be pleased with mere survival or just resign ourselves to it because we are Leicester.

We need to be a clever, forward thinking organization who develops young talent at the academy and brings in young players who we can take to the next level. We seem to have lost our way & started looking for short cuts instead of putting in the hard work.

How much influence Rodgers  & Congerton have had is debatable but we seemed to change as a club after their arrival.

Our obvious goal now is survival but the club need to learn from their mistakes & resist looking for the easy solution.

Best case scenario based on our current form/trajectory is probably 15th or so at this stage. Worst case scenario is relegation.

Ergo survival is now a success and 40-points is the only target we should have as a squad. We simply have to make it over the line and get to the summer where serious questions need to be asked and a long overdue refresh needs to start. It doesn't look like Rodgers will be going anytime soon, and it looks like we might get a few additions to aid the fight in the January window. That'll be our lot and we have to make it work.
