Faes simply cannot start the season. The man is a walking advert for the demise of the club. 

Obviously he is a better than League One player, but Martin will lose all credibility to his 'you have to be desperate to play' rhetorifc if he plays him. He'd be better off playing Aluko, Choudhury or Gray alongside Okoli than shooting himself in the foot to that degree. 

Maybe it's Choudhury's time to rerun the experiment seen against Watford in the FA Cup and reinvent himself as a ball playing, red carded getting, rootin, tootin League One Centre half.

Centre back is a huge issue for us. None of them want to be here, maybe harsh on Nelson but I'm sure he'd be happy to leave, but we can't really bring anyone in until they have gone.

We are going to have to start the season with half hearted centre backs until deadline day and then it will be all change

Given that Sheffield United clearly can't afford the price previously quoted on Souttar, it seems unlikely they'll be able to stump up for a higher one. We clearly wanted to get the likes of Winks and Vestergaard etc out of the door and cash in on Fatawu, but I get the impression we won't compromise much on Souttar. It just seems like we genuinely don't want to sell him.

I honestly wouldn't hate that - realistically nobody is coming in for Hamza and at least he wouldn't be required to do anything besides tackle and pass the ball ten yards. I know it's still doubtful that he's even capable of the latter, but if it gets Sideshow Bob out of the club so be it.

I don't think we do, but I have a feeling the player wants to go.

 

I agree we are happy for him to stay or want the right price for him to go 

 

It still early in the window with 5 odd weeks left, so I don't think we are willing to be low balled. 

 

I also think it a calculated shot at Wilder, stop trying to unsettle our player by talking about him, which I like from Russell.

He might well prefer to play in the Championship, but that's not a reason to let him go for less than he's worth. The risk is that you keep an unhappy player who underperforms, but I don't think this will happen in Souttar's case. He's widely known as a very decent bloke with a very good attitude, and I think he'd knuckle down even if he was disappointed at not getting a move. Martin made him captain of the team that played Coventry on Saturday and apparently he played very well, which suggests he's not sulking. Unless Sheffield Utd manage to find the money from somewhere, they won't get him.
