Funeral is rumoured to be the Monday.

I’ve seen rumours it’s on the Saturday - 9 days after death, with the Monday also being a bank holiday.

Supposed to be 10 days of morning (according to the protocols)

But does the 10 days include the day after the funeral?

Surely we are better off having this postponed ?

we can’t be in a worse place than we are now when it’s rearranged for ??

But where do you fit the games in? The fixture calendar is literally full thanks to this bullsh1t WC.

Why postpone games? Like, literally, what is the actual point? Next week would be weird enough but this weekend? Just gesturing isn't it really? Are people actually just wanting to sit in at home crying with family? And if so, do they also want everyone else doing the same?

It’s called a mark of respect. Each to their own if they want to cry about it.

The majority of people won’t be moaning on their extra bank holiday.

And given the funeral next Sunday (most likely) there will be potentially 2 rounds to reschedule. Carnage

It’s only the journos opinion.

Yep, seems pretty common place opinion. The prem was called off when Diana died apparently, so why not for the queen?

I like, literally agree with you. I actually do, literally.

Henry winter said that when Diana died it was called off. I was too young to remember tbh, but I’m sure he is right.

Was it? Thought they were just played the day before and the day after?  Could be wrong - it was a long time ago.

Diana was a Sunday though - they only had to call off a single game in the Premier League that weekend as 9 games had been played on the Saturday.

Famously Football Italia had one of their biggest ever audiences as it was the only available live sport to watch in the UK

Fairly sure it was a Saturday as I was working.

The funeral that is, the death was in the early hours of Sunday

Thanks, I couldn’t remember. We will find out in the morning, but the consensus seems to be this weekend and next weekend will both be off. Could obviously be wrong. Will be a scheduling nightmare with the World Cup if they do get called off…

Looking a bit deeper with Diana - the week after was her funeral but it was an international break. The surviving games of the week in the second tier were played on the Sunday.

So you’d say this week off - next week on but no clash with the funeral
