As big a moment as this is for the country, I feel postponing events is too far. On the date of the funeral I understand, but we need to carry on, be respectful but not over do it. There's a lot of people out there that need their own escapes from the daily grind - royalists or not.

I can't see the game being on this weekend. And given the funeral will be on next Sunday or Monday, I can see those games being cancelled too. Will mean a right mess for rescheduling then given the way this season is being played

Their gut is that the PL wouldn’t want to lose money (and spotlight from other leagues) but they will go with the consensus.

Don't see why games, or anything needs cancelling, even more so when businesses need all the income they can get. We can all mourn yet carry on with our lives. 

 

Royal family should be able to be left alone from now until the funeral but won't happen of course.

My gut instinct is that this weekends fixtures will be canned and the following weekend will go ahead

They carried on when Prince Phillip died .

And I remember what is now League one clubs played mid week (we played Plymouth away ) and on the Sunday after Princess Di’s funeral as Elton John was a guest at the Watford game so might not be off yet.

Next weekend’s games could be moved to the Sunday I guess if the funeral is on the Saturday

Really don’t think they should be cancelling games. If anything play them so people can show their respect with a minutes silence. Also I know this isn’t a big deal to most but some would have made non refundable travel arrangements.
