Hmm, yeah they were certainly telling a lot of people to calm down regarding the style of football, saying it was nothing like the last days of Puel etc.

However I really think that comment from Rogers about the fans, has had a huge effect on OPA...

It's more that Owynn fella. Listened to him cut 2 callers off in a row for saying it had gone stale and a new man was needed in the summer, before they could even give their reason he'd butt in, yelled at them, moved on without giving them a chance and basically said anyone of that opinion doesn't know what they're talking about and is essentially, stupid.

I really like him and think he’s a great role model for people who have had difficulties. Enjoyed his book. But it’s taken them both a while to wake up to this, feel like it’s more of an editorial decision to go this way. It’s been like this for ages and only now do they want to mention Rodgers being at fault.

"My advice to the manager would have been, yesterday, do not mention the transfer window! Don't mention it. And he did. Again.
He told us that once it's shut it would give us more solidarity, and he wouldn't need to speak on it any more. He brought it up again.

To win football matches is very difficult when you're in a moment like this. I've been in it most of my career."

"It wasn't as toxic as this though, because clearly we didn't have a manager that was launching players under the bus, fans, the hierarchy of the football club. I think that's why it's turned so quickly."

"Because once Brendan has got personal with people at the football club that are loved; obviously the owners, and the King Power Group, what they've done for us has been amazing over the last 10 or so years, so to start pointing fingers towards them...
The players are adored, obviously, and he's thrown certain players under the bus and pointed fingers their way. And then to turn against the fans a little bit, and start acusing them of not supporting the team when he isn't himself supporting the team on an individual basis, and I feel letdown."

"I've watched this football team since I was six, playing for it since I was seven, eight years old. We are steeped in the history of this football club, and when you got a guy coming in, who I adored, you know [when we were all talking], we'd run through walls for him. We would have done at that point, because that was the agenda he set out, that was his narrative, that he's a positive guy, that he supports his team, he's always with the team, that he will always fight... You know he has said these sentances and drawn people in like me and a lot of the fans. We went on and we had some terrific times under him."

"But then, because you don't get your own way in the transfer market and things go a little bit south, you think you can chuck all of them values aside and start talking however you want?

No mate, not at my football club."

Thanks greatly appreciated.

Those of you who haven't used Radio Leicester for commentary and the like for a while may as well re-acquaint yourselves. We've taken near-guaranteed streams for granted but, if we go down, it's going to be our only choice for coverage a lot of weeks.

Piper has been gradually moving from pro to anti-Rodgers following each bad result. Whilst he has certainly been slower to join the Rodgers out camp than most on this site, I think his transition from 'in' to 'out' probably mirrors many fans who aren't active on social media or forums, and were much more positive about Rodgers until very recently.

What I found quite interesting though was his assertion that people were telling him he'd get sacked for calling out Rodgers, but that he didn't care. This is quite clearly ludicrous - the BBC aren't going to sack a pundit for having an opinion on the manager - but it does indicate that there is a feeling within Radio Leicester that the increased access they now have with the club post-Stringer is transactional, i.e. you can have interviews as long as you aren't critical. I really hope this isn't the case - local BBC radio should provide independent analysis and not be a club propaganda tool (like LCFC TV).

@Red Squirrelgreat post. I’ve grown to respect his insight and opinions massively over the last couple of years. Although I’m at most games home and away, so don’t listen to live commentary, I always listen to the 3/4 podcasts a week of various things. He always seems to be able to weave my, at times, disjointed thoughts together and make sense out of them.

As well as his insightful views football wise, he often seems to recognise and perceive the feelings and emotions of the fans too, which for me reinforces the sense of belonging we all want to feel.

I think he’s said this will probably be his last season, which is a shame.

I think a lot of fans are probably basing their opinion on results. If we'd picked up 6/7 points but Rodgers was saying the same things (he's been like this for a good 2 years now) then there would still be a huge divide between people who want a change and people who are happy to stick up for him and see him as some sort of god.

To be fair, I think a lot of people don't bother with manager interviews.

It is a result-based business, people will put up with most things if we are winning games.

It's an infuriatingly short-sighted mindset to me but I suppose the average football fan doesn't look into these things too deeply lol

If we won 6 out of 6 and BR was a complete bell end I wouldn't care.

The fact he is a bell end and lost the last 5, well..........

Honestly, though, is that much different from the club? I think they want to appoint someone, get on with the job and if results are ok they'll leave it be.

The issue we face is that it is much more than results at the moment. If we had 7/8 points there isn't much to discuss from outside the club and I doubt many of the internal problems are being made public.

Excellent piece altogether, but this point is exceptional and completely sums up why even the most ardent Brendan supporters are turning their backs on him.

Things like personality, poor recruitment, poor decisions, poor performances. You can pick up good results and fluke results while these are present, but they're indicators to future failure. This situation we're in hasn't happened by chance or bad luck. The signs have been there for ages.

The reason I want us to lose under him is that the vast majority will only want him out if we're losing, although the board seemingly need to see more failure.

It's just not enjoyable to watch your team and sigh every time they score against the run of play but that's where I've been at for a long time. This is because it's been quite obvious to me that we've been trending in a downward direction for a good time. Since Nige I've come to appreciate that the off the pitch is probably more important than what's happening on it. Put the building blocks for success there and it will come, we've seen the proof of that.

@Corky sadly I think you're right as well. The top level execs have let standards slip and taken their eye off the ball and really deserve some of the blame as well. Like you say though, club, media and fans alike are blinded by results and seem to care very little about the process.

This is why clubs that operate intelligently will always have that edge over the majority of clubs. Process over performance every time for me because good processes will invariably lead to good results in the long term.

I'm confused. Do we like radio Leicester now or what?

It's been fashionable to hate them recently.

I personally never understood the dislike. They were never the most professional bunch, but that made it feel more informal and fun to listen to. Thought Stringer and Piper had great chemistry, and Owynn just added to the show when he turned up.

Since then Owynn has stepped up admirably into the main role, and has taken steps to make the show a bit more professional without losing that touch of informality.

It's a fan show made by people with a passion for the club, with a radio budget so it's better that any podcast that's just 3 lads on a zoom call.

I fully back and understand Pipers speech. He, until recently, like many of us supported Rodgers, enjoyed the good times and exciting football we were playing, but, and this is the crux of it, felt let down by the comments criticising the  owners and more importantly, the fans, of which he includes himself, when it started to go Pete tong.

“no mate, not at my football club”

Said with passion. Well done to him.
