Makes me laugh when the argument used against some players, let’s use Souttar and Cannon as examples, is that ‘well that’s 2/3 managers who haven’t selected him’. This being the justification for them being bad players.

 

Yet we have the opposite here. 2/3/4 managers who have consistently Faes. Presumably by the same logic, this makes Faes class and irreplaceable. 
 

Sometimes managers just consistently pick players who add nothing like Faes. I think we will be better for it when he eventually moves on.

Once it bounced it was a tricky ball to deal with. I think Mads should have been assertive, read the situation and taken care of it rather than Faes. But once it was left to Wout, feck knows what he thought he was doing

Same. In fact I’ve been a big critic of Faes during his time here but I don’t think him and Okali have been too bad together. Full backs need sorting, or we need better ones, because every opposition players beat our fullbacks easily.

Looks more comical everytime I see that third goal. Made no attempt to try and clear the ball whatsoever when there's a striker hustling him. Is he thick??

It really is annoying. My opinion of Faes has always been he's about as good as we can get for our situation. By that I mean he's capable of being great and plays out well from the back. Yes he's absolutely capable of being a complete bomb scare but yet again he's playing for relegation battling Leicester and that's where we are at.

 

Having said all that, stuff like last night is genuinely unforgivable and makes you wonder how on earth he puts himself in those situations. It always feels like with Leicester, even when we were battling for top 4, we are either inexplicably brilliant or comically bad. Faes fits this perfect really.

I'll be fair, and I'm sure others have said it before, Faes genuinely wouldn't look out of place at a top European team, because they don't really have to defend lol. He just isn't great in the box, but always seemed to play the position well in possession.

 

When you're Steve Cooper's Leicester, Faes, Okoli, Justin, Kristy... Throw in Ndidi, Skipp, Winks - they're going to look shit because we're having 20+ shots against us every game. Only Mads comes out unscathed as he can actually do something.

I don't actually think he's particularly great in possession either tbh. He's fine with the ball, competent, but nothing above or beyond what I'd expect from a £15m+ centre half in 2024.

 

If the best people can say about a defender is "he'd look good in a side where he doesn't have to defend" it's probably flagging up that he's a bit shit.

When you have a player like Faes who is a poor cb for this level, you need to play 3 atb. You cannot go with 2 with the other being a very talented but inexperienced partner.

But as soon as that club played fellow top European side, he’d look out of his depth and make the errors we know.

I’m sorry but that’s a ridiculous comment.

 

So when a top club plays another top club they wouldn’t expose him as being absolutely pony and a bomb scare.

 

Faes has no footballing traits that are better than bang average and then throw in his obvious flaws….he’s a low end PL CB who wouldn’t have had a sniff at our club if had some recent CB’s like Lil Wes, Evans, Cags, Morgan, Huth etc.

I think he's overall at Cags' level. Maybe even a notch better.

I normally agree with most of your posts mate but Cags made it into the PL and Bundesliga 11.

 

Faes is a slower, poor man’s version of Cags in my eyes.

Absolutely catastrophic. We know: Wout Faes is, at best, a correct defender, to whom we should not ask for the moon. The problem will always have been to make him the boss of the defense as he multiplies the dumplings game after game, without getting rid of a totally misplaced arrogance. Let's hope that his role changes for the next campaign or it will be impossible to pass a level.

When he slipped and gave his opponent free rein to Casteels, the frustration of many Belgian fans undoubtedly rose high (again). It still looks too unhappy at Faes. Next to that slipper, the big misses were missing, but his position game was not always on edge. Could not adjust the unsteered ship any further.

Faes has similar traits to Soyuncu in terms of consistency and having that error in his locker. Soyuncu was rapid though, so if he was out of place, he could correct that. 
 

Neither could lead a defence. 
 

Soyuncu obviously lost form and played at a similar level (in my opinion) to what we now see week in, week out from Faes. Average at best. 
 

I still think our best four central defenders in the modern era would be Morgan, Huth, Fofana and Evans. 
 

Faes doesn’t get into 75% of the current Premier League teams.
