It's 6 degrees over here in Toronto area. It's been over the 20s for the last week or two easily. A little chilly or sure but thrown on some blankets, warmer clothes, willy warmer and all is good.

Dear Blur,

Thank you, but I have the unpleasant task of informing you that your application to join the secret inner circle has been formerly rejected on the basis that you sound like you are my daughter and that would make things weird.

All the best of luck with your future attempts to join other, inferior clandestine gangs.

Regards, etc.

Get in line Broseph. I've had way more warnings and bans than you, even if most of them were for VERY silly reasons...................

A few bans is just the start, after that it's the hammerings at your door from shouty MI5 people at 4am when it gets really annoying

I barely dare answer but...ours isn't ever turned off, the thermostat is just left to control it. So, yes, a couple of times in the past week it has kicked in and been on for a short while.

I have been tempted recently as it's been 14 deg in the morning and we had the heating on in the winter when it was 16 deg.

I only prevaricated because it's the end of May and it just seems wrong.

If the weather was like this in October/autumn, most people would have their heating on, at least in the evening.

Because it's June and it's meant to be early summer, I guess most don't.

We have put it on this evening because it's stupidly chilly.

We've just had a few days in Yorkshire by the coast and had a barbecue on Tuesday evening. It was that chilly we could see our exhaled breath and we sat in coats and hoodies.

Bit of a dilemma here.

We've had a small log burner for the last 2 years and it's awesome. Haven't used it since Feb/march but tempted to light it tonight as it's fvcking freezing.

Haven't had it swept yet (I know, I know) but booked in for Oct 7th.

Do we light it tonight or wait until after it's been swept?

I love this time of year when we get the blokes who wear the date that they finally turn their heating on as a badge of honour.  Freezing? Put that 5th coat on! Martin made it to November 19th last year before he folded.

It's like postmen that bet on who the last man standing is to wear shorts.

You'll be so much warmer when the flue catches fire.
