So stock up on candles, torches, extra  blankets and water butt's.

@Jattdoggyou need to make sure your laptop is fully charged so that you can continue to access Pornhub during the 3 hours of blackouts. :D

From ITV news:

It is the most dire of three possible scenarios that the ESO laid out on Thursday for how Britain’s electricity grid might cope with the worst global energy crisis for decades.

In the other two scenarios, the operator hopes that by paying people to charge their electric cars at off-peak times, and firing up back-up coal plants, it can offset the risk of blackouts.

Ms Truss told reporters during a visit to the Czech Republic: “We’re working very hard on energy security, it’s one of the reasons I am here in Prague today.

“We have interconnectors with our European partners, we’re working on more gas supplies, we’re working on building out nuclear energy, building out wind energy, so we do have a secure supply of energy.”

How long will this take and what does "building out" mean?

Be interesting to see where the power cuts are, most likely in the poorer areas of the country!. I bet the house of commons/ Lords will keep the generators running!. What about hospitals, etc! How will they be affected!.

They won't. They have prioritised power supplies and failsafe back-up systems. There may be issues with heating food or sterilising equipment although this would likely happen only after a prolonged power cut.

Yeah in pretty sure the National Grid said they're highly unlikely and that it's the worst case scenario.

And I'm sure they've said about the possibility a few times previously. Although, with the Ukraine situation, it might be an increased possibility this year.

It's all going to go wrong when the whole of England tune in to see England play in the world cup final...

In the highly unlikely event of this happening, there's plenty of posters here who won't bother watching "cos it's England and they're shit, and therefore I refuse to support them". They'll save the national grid from failure to supply.

No blackouts over here. If so, I will  shag the missus and spend the next 2 hours and 55 minutes chopping down wood like a canadian lumberjack  and start a bonfire. Catch a  deer,  gut it like @Countryfox and enjoy! Ho ho ho!

Damnit i need to get a gas generator with backup fuel stat.

Haven't been anywhere near your missus though  ...   honest    :)

You had 2 hours and 55 minutes to plot a move and you decide to chop a tree and eat a deer. What a mans man! :)

I’m sure the media will whip this up until mass hysteria sweeps the Uk and then winter will pass with no real issue.

The media are now saying people are stockpiling candles.

There's an independent hardware shop limiting people to four...

I think they are possible, rather than likely. Still not a great situation to be in.

Yeah, that was definitely the story... if you can call it that.

I was thinking to myself, in a day with petrol stations and bridges blowing up, it's pretty much a non-story.

In other news Haaland might get 20+ goals this season.
