If we had even an average PL keeper I’d agree, but Schmeichel is still infinitely better than Ward still though! I’d take him back in a heartbeat given who our #1 currently is

No point having him back though. We need a younger keeper who can be our number 1 for a good period of time. ( obviously not Ward )

Just two things to say here. 

 

1 - he was sh*t for us the last two seasons. No surprise that he's been found out at Nice. 

 

2 - we could have had the world's best keeper this season and we'd still be bottom having conceded circa 24 goals.

 

Our problems are fundamental, deep seated and are not fixed by changing the goalkeeper.

Kasper was always known to have a bit of a mean attitude to ground staff or anyone who wasn’t up to his ‘ world class player’ attitude. Even a grain of sand  on his gloves  and he’d go off on the ground staff about it. So a new club who don’t know him added with the fact that age might mean he hasn’t got the ability to go with the attitude any more was always a potential banana skin for him..

 

 

he’d be better than Ward but because of his age, for how much longer?. It might be a backwards step…

Pure speculation from me, but maybe he has been shocked to find that what he got away with here for years, he can't get away with elsewhere?

 

Maybe that's one of our fatal issues? Would tie with the idea that we're too soft and too nice.

We absolutely wouldn’t though. Can’t believe people are still defending Ward like this.

 

This is serious head in your sand ostrich stuff. 

 

Our defence is shit but a mediocre PL keeper absolutely could’ve easily saved both goals today, as they could at least 1 of the goals vs Brentford. I think at least 2-3 of the goals vs Brighton as well.

 

Ward has unquestionably cost us at least 4pts already in comparison to a bog standard PL keeper, if not more.

 

Changing the keeper wouldn’t see us challenging Europe, but it’d sure as hell stop us getting relegated.

Well. I can’t see him coming back on 120k a week.

 

I think we might be able to convict someone under anti torture legislation if we get Iversen to stay in the promise of Premier League action, only to sit on the bench watching Ward fail yet still seeing no game time, only to then find himself out of the squad on Kasper’s return.

A club legend for us no doubt, but let's not try to sweep under the carpet that his ego was a part of the problem when times got tough and things weren't going his way.

Get him back on loan until the end of the season, proper goodbye in the summer when we can sign a proper replacement and he can then either leave Nice for a new club at that point or sit on a fat contract for the next couple of years.
