I respect that, and I'm certainly not anti-stats either.

However, here's something to always remember - the scoreline is the ULTIMATE statistic.

Indeed it is, and with football being a low scoring game, a good percentage of results are decided by random events during the game (like Youri smashing in a half volley from 25 yards :D).

I'd just say whilst it looks good on the face of things, there's plenty of evidence to say that things may not be fixed and there's a decent liklihood that this ends up like us taking advantage of playing some rather poor teams that find themselves in a bad spot.

I've said in another thread though, the addition of Faes does seem to have had a positive impact on the defence, they are getting through a lot of work and coming out on top.

As a team we still leave a lot of space between our midfield and defence, I still see as quite a big issue and one that better teams will capitalise on.

That's fair. I'm just sick of wading through the emotional incontinence that so many inflict on us here, day after day.

On the flip side, if we're performing well but not getting the results they deserve, you'll find me a beacon of light among the misery :D

Completely free hit really and will forgive any time of performance as long as we keep the score below 6

Leicester City 3-5 Man City

I really think that's the wrong mentality.  We should capitalise on  our new-found form, confidence and aggression to look to fight Man C all the way, to concede nothing to them.  To bow down tamely to them would undo the recent improvement in confidence  and would risk the return of self-doubt in the next few fixtures (which I believe include some challenging ones, so we can't allow the recent tougher mentality to slip).

I reckon we're going to get beat.

Looking at the other fixtures at the bottom, if as is likely we are defeated we can hopefully avoid slipping back in the bottom 3.

rah-rah-rah, I'd vote for you ;)

Would you take a 1-0 defeat in this one if it was offered now? Sounds negative but a solid performance, and keeping a lid on the goal difference would still constitute progress from where we were.

Or.....risk a hammering?

@filbertway raises a good point about the sheer volume of chances that opposition teams create against us and I've long tried to understand the reason for this, for a team that often has 55+ % possession it goes against the theory that having more of the ball means the opposition don't have it and therefore can't rain shots down on you.

That said Man City will always create a plethora of chances and it wouldn't matter if we usually nullify most teams to a measly amount of chances, they are a different beast. I'm slightly more confident that we look stronger at the back with the introduction of Wout Faes and I've been hugely impressed by the recent performances of Justin and Castagne, Tielemans is giving the team a much added outlet as well as positional helping shut down dangerous openings, often meaning less hurtful pot shots from distance or harder angles.

I don't expect a result, I hope we can prove to be far better defensively against the top sides than we have shown this season and muster some decent chances ourselves. The better gauge of where we are currently at will be Everton and West Ham away, games that are tough but we ought to be in with a chance of results.

Vardy will be on fire now. Once he pops and all that. Can see us literally shithousing a 3-1 win here.

However, back on planet Earth, Haaland scores 4 and we get done 2-5.

Fuk that, we should always go for the win.

I reckon we'll smash the c*nts.

We'll have sod all possession, play the game mainly in our own half and do a lot of running chasing shadows. What this means is that we'll have to make good use of the possession we do get, move the ball quickly and with intent. The biggest weakness Man City have (and it's not big comparatively) is defense; get them turned and running back, then there can be space - but it doesn't happen that often as they are so adept at strangling games.

You never know.  But Man City are a scary prospect.

Was it last season that De Bruyne made Tielemans look pedestrian?  Haaland is phenomenal.

But we have attackers with impressive stats.

We could lose by a few.   But there is a chance we could spring a shock.

He is a beast. But if we can reset the clock on him beating Vardy's record, I'd be happy.

It's already back to 1.
