The more annoying part of this is had we played relatively well all season, we would be sitting on at least ten more points if not more.  We could have been sitting in 5th or 6th right now if we'd turned up from the off.

Having said that, I fancy Chelsea to have a bad season (by bad I mean could drop out the top 6) and Man United are no great shakes these days either.  We've too much work to do for my liking but this was a season to break in again if you ask me.

Same as last year. Appalling game management cost us European qualification

You could say that about any team in the division?

Yeeeeeaaahhhh...but I'm not talking about any team in the division, I'm talking about Leicester and our disastrous 7 game start which no other team in the league had (that wasn't expected to)

I think the league Cup is our best hope of ELC football. Play like we did v Everton and we'd worry any team. The performance was borderline supreme.

Am.i right in thinking that league Cup takes precedence over 7th place, if top 6 didn't win the other trophies,.domestic or European,?

European qualification consists of:

Top 4 = CL

5th = EL

FA Cup winner = EL

Carabao Cup winner = ECL

If any cup winners finish in the Top 5, then 6th and potentially 7th place gives European spots.

To guarantee European football through league position, you have to finish 5th or higher. Otherwise you rely on certain teams to win cups.

True, but has it happened since 2013, with Wigan and Swansea? (It may have, I can't remember how far ManU was down the table the year they won.)

Even when we qualified through the FA Cup, we still got 5th.

At the same time, I think we are far more likely to win a Cup this year than finish 7th.

Shameless self-promotion: I am hosting a pub quiz at the 1852 Brewery Co. in Wigston on Sunday Nov. 13 at 8pm. C'mon down.

Is this going to be a Leicester City quiz?

Possibly, it does seem that it has been years since someone finished 7th and missed out on Europe. However, it's not an unlikely scenario, especially with the mixed up season this one is (WC break etc.). I think someone outside the Top 7 will win one of the cups this year.

If we manage two back to back wins against Everton and West Ham, yes top 7 might be a realistic target if we also do some decent transfer job in January. Too many ifs though and let's see how this pans out after the final whistle tonight because I don't have a good feeling about today's game...

Transfers in January doesn't  & won't bring much plus how prepared are the club in openning the coffers, but keeping the present squad fit and wanting to play.

This will be more advantageous, than guessing if the right player becomes available..

Some fans need to get into the season & back our present group of players..

Enjoy the moment in time, stop chasing the future..let others worry about it..

I feel much more relaxed about the season, now. I anticipated about 10th-12th (maybe down to 14th on a bad run). If we finish 10th and are able to bring in a decent Maddison replacement next year, happy days.

But, at some point, we'll go down. To my knowledge, everyone outside of the big London and North West clubs has gone down. It'll happen to us. I'd rather it happen as a shock than a slow, Sunderland-esque death.

Until then, enjoy it if it's enjoyable and don't bother if it's rubbish.

We didn't start well,so there is no story.

Our path and others are the seasonal stories which makes our season.

I mean if we did this instead of that in 1961,62,63, we would of been title & cup winners...

Sport, football doesn't follow the could ofs ,nor positive or negatives of intellectual logic....

Just enjoy the story each season as each chapter opens up and evolves before us..That's the real magic and actual football story, believing knowing better doesn't change the end outcome...

Saw Everton and west ham over recent years making strides up the table from the relegation places into the top 7 out of nowhere. I think 8th, but 7th is out of the question due to money bags toon scum.

I think a win against West Ham this week and the relegation fears pretty much go away.  A Leicester team then playing with some freedom and with no pressure become a dangerous animal after the World Cup and could easily win a few on the trot. I don’t think we’ll quite recover from our poor start and make the European places as one bad  mini run from now on would kill the chances but it’s possible. I say that more from watching our last couple of games and how good we again now look more than just the results.

Could we turn it around become the best of the rest?

Just how good are Newcastle and Man U?

4 points of best of the rest.

4 points above the drop zone.

7 points behind Man U.

Remain 6 points behind Newcastle if we do em twice......... but Chelsea and Man U now looking weakest of the elite?

Europe still depends on who wins cups or not, even if we make 7th

This was never meant to be a prediction thread

Just a bit of balance for the less sarcy miserable fookers of the forum.

The injury to Justin reflects how quickly it can all go tits up though

I am not really discounting the likes of Brighton........ but a strong mid table can take points off the leaders too.

I reckon it is still a goer

Having had a horror start, we can't afford another iffy period, got to average around 1.8 points a game for the rest of the season, which is tough as that would mean we'd averaged nearly 2 points a game for 30+ games - ironically the longest we'd have done so even counting the two top 5 seasons 😂😂
