Was always going to be a tough game especially with a lions mix of starters and reserves and 1st game n all.

Argentina are no longer the whipping boys they once were and have beaten NZ, OZ, SA and now the Lions all within the past 6mths or so. I expect they will add ENG to that list in at least 1 of games next month and then SCO & WAL later in the year, they have a very impressive squad and coaching team currently.

Would a Loins tour of Argentina ever happen?

I imagine the three tests would draw big crowds but not sure about the provincial/regional games.

Would be a hell of a place for the fans to travel over to.

It wouldn't make as much money, so probably not.

It's just as valid as touring Australia these days though. Although that's probably more a dig at Australia than anything else lol

Bad and sad news for Tomo Williams on a personal note and obviously the Lions themselves.

Yep sad news he did actually look like he could have snatched a starting spot from GP.

Assume geography played a part in his replacement over trying to get JVP from Argentina. Probably the best for JVP as he’ll start for England but would be a 3rd choice Lion you’d imagine.

Group stages of under 20s world cup are coming to a close, poor ones for Ireland Scotland and Wales. Ireland and Scotland have both had some tonkings

Anyone else slightly underwhelmed by the Lions lineup? Don’t really see how Beirne starts over Chessum when Chessum has played much better in the warm up games. Not sure Curry deserves the start either and it seems unfair on Morgan. Would also liked to have seen Pollock on the bench as an impact sub, although I appreciate the back row is probably the most competitive. Having said that, I think he’s made the right calls with the back line, even if the injuries have forced his hand.

looks like he’s selected the team he expected to when he picked the squad (injuries aside).

Thought Beirne had played his way out of the team but did well last week.

Can only assume Farrell wants trusted players in at the start and hit the Aussies with a powerful subs bench up front around 60 mins.

I hope Keenan stays fit because Smith at 15 gives me the fear with the Aussie back line charging towards him under high balls.

Lowe is lucky to start, his last performance wasn't great and he looks slow. He's got a decent left foot though.

I'd imagine we will play for field position and let the back line do their talking in the Aussie 22.

Is there a lack of mobility around the breakdown? Conan, Beirne not as fast as Morgan and Earl and the Aussies have won those battles so far.

Have to say I feel for Morgan, he's played so much better than Curry on tour, and Curry always seems to give away penalties.

We will see on Saturday.

Would’ve liked to see have seen this Lions side against NZ. I think out of all the southern hemisphere sides, Australia are the weakest of the three.

Just got round to watching the game. Weirdly jeopardy-free match I thought. Almost subdued for a Lions test. I think the back 3 might be under pressure this week, didn't think any of them played particularly well. Keenan was okay, but I thought the kicking from Freeman and Lowe was pretty poor.
