No surprise to see Australia competing better than last week

they will have drawn some confidence from not being well beaten last week - add in a couple of returning players up front and we have a real game !

if the lions lose any of these tests then Farrelll should be embarrassed

You've gotta feel for the Wallabies there.

Actually, maybe not :D

Pollard always seems to turn it on for SA, but was either injured or a liability for us, especially the Premiership sf and final.

Glad to see Argentina beat NZ.

South Africa bottom of the Rugby Championship table at the half way point, you love to see it.

*Yes, I know they will probably win the next RWC regardless

The Saffers are the inverse SH counterpart of Ireland for the NH: underperform in local championships, but then always bring their best to a World Cup.

Wouldn't go as far to say that they underperform locally. Prior to loss at Eden Park last week (where NZ haven't lost in a million years), they'd beaten NZ four times on the spin. Could still end up winning the rugby champ as it's so close.

Realistically Rugby Championship is the best competition in rugby by a mile, all games this year have been incredible.

Yeah, fair to say.

Was just thinking that they'd challenge for the RC all the time if they matched their World Cup pedigree.

WRT the last paragraph, the RC has arguably four of the best six teams in the world in it, so you'd expect the quality to be good.

Surely one of the most overrated players in the game?

I don't feel like overrated is the right word. Not sure how to word it, more like over-profiled?

I feel like the rugby world, both hardcore and casual fans, pretty much understand the level he was at and the quality he had. He was a genuinely top class winger, he would have at very least got in the squad for most (if not all) Tier 1 nations, even if he didn't start. He'd probably have started for the Lions if he'd never gone to the NFL.

But the hype and the profile around him is definitely weird and doesn't match his talent. Like Gav' before him, if he wasn't Welsh, he'd never have that level of celebrity. We just get a bit over-obsessed with our star players and then it sort of seems to spread out to the rest of the rubgy world from time to time.

You'd think from the profile he gets that he's on, say, Dupont's level or at very least someone like a D-Mac or a Kolbe and he isn't that, certainly not yet and probably never will be now because of that break from the sport.

All 4 at least seemingly well matched as well, Aus winning in SA from so far behind was mad.

Games in ARG are the best, such a football crowd whistling the opposition kicker etc.

Boks have smashed the all blacks in NZ

almost record breaking defeat at home

boks have been awesome

EDIT:  record breaking !!!!

Only saw the 2nd half.  What a performance, and to be honest there were players on that team I've never heard of before.

To my untrained eye, the Southern hemisphere teams seem have an extra physicality and skill level at the moment.

Maybe I'm just a bit disappointed in the Lions performances in the summer.

The lions (Ireland) nowhere near this level

s Africa steamrollered the all blacks.  I’ve not seen them look so physically second best all over the pitch

With Red Bull taking over Newcastle it was only a matter of time before Steve Diamond's position became under threat, seems 1 game was enough & he's now out.  Gregor Townsend appointed as Rugby adviser to Red Bull's 1st step into the game, & will spend 30 days a year working on strategy and philosophy with Red Bull.
He's probably given his countrymans name of Neil Mcllroy up for the role of sporting general manager Newcastle who will start on the 1st Nov, with Alan Dickins being promoted from within also.

Would imagine Diamond will have a future role with either of the 2 clubs now making their way back into the leagues next season, Wasps & Irish. The other liquidated club in Worcestor has started this season in the 2nd tier & have Matt Everard as head coach.
