It's gone very quiet on here...

I see an Iranian woman got kicked out of a stadium for wearing a t-shirt that had 'Women, life, freedom' on it.

Does any part of that constitute a 'political' slogan banned by FIFA? Which of those three is culturally insensitive in Qatar?

Is it the women, the life or the freedom that's unacceptable? Should there not be women? Or are women okay but they shouldn't be allowed life, or freedom? Or maybe life and/or freedom themselves are simply beyond the pale.

Would a t-shirt saying 'Men, death, imprisonment' be ok?

I won't be happy until every single person going to a sports event has a catchy slogan on their t shirt for their chosen cause celebre. They don't have to actually do anything to help, just make grand gestures and post on social media to "raise awareness".

In fact, I'll be disappointed if we don't see dozens of disruptions in every game, zip ties to goalposts, streakers, superglued goalie gloves, people setting themselves on fire in the centre circle, all to add a little bit of variety to a mundane sporting event.

I find the whole thing rather tricky, my western perspective considers the Qatari regime backward, as most of Middle Eastern countries and I wouldn’t ever go there, even for a World Cup final. But it comes the point when if you’re a visitor in someone’s country you have to be able to respect their traditions and culture, if you can’t do don’t go, simple as. I fail to see what rainbow armbands and bucket hats will really accomplish here, the message is already quite clear. It’s not accepted in that country, and it doesn’t look like despite their interests in sports washing that they’re going to adapt similarly to a UAE (which again is still quite backward by a western perspective).

Well we have 25 pages on theme Boycott…

If every one who is true to their word for a boycott ..

Then they wouldn’t post one thing relevant to the World Cup ..

I havent completely boycotted but also have barely watched much.

I watched both Canada games and highlights of england ones.

Yesterday, I caught part of germany/spain.

Not watched anything else. Dont plan on watching much now with Canada out.

Genuine question mate what do you think you not watching at home on your tv is achieving?

Especially considering you pick and choose what you watch?

Aside from when something crops up on the news, I’ve not watched any or tuned in to 5Live.

I’m absolutely certain it’s having at least the same impact as my decision not to buy overpriced matchday tickets and boycott the club shop.

When I’ve singlehandedly shaken the world of football to its roots you can all thank me.

That statement from the World Cup chief on worker deaths...

It's like coming home to your partner from the pub. You try to explain you had 2 pints, maybe 2-3 as you cannot remember exactly. When in actual fact you had 12 pints.

I'm surprised certain posters haven't jumped on this to point out that your partner probably had a drink once, or smoked a fag, or did something unhealthy, so they have absolutely no right to criticise you anyway. Ever. For anything. They need to get their own house in order.

The burning question today has to be how many people last night chose to become gay as a result of seeing the flag on the pitch?

The fact that you actually mean this is the funny thing. It’s the overall agenda that has the impact not one flag.

I'm going to a wear a t shirt saying "why is the non COVID excess death rate in the UK running at 20% above the five year average, even though the NHS backlog only accounts for a small number of this, and why isn't it all over the media?". That's my agenda.

It's more like your partner killed 5 people drink driving, but I get your point.

I just think that, morally, this is so much bigger than all of us. Bigger than sport. We should all put our selves and our own hopes and ambitions aside a moment and stand with the communities oppressed by this regime and boycott this world cup. #solidarity #humanrights

Will you be protesting from within the comfort of your own home, or are you booking a flight to Qatar?

are you telling me that exposure to material, for example, extreme Islamist propaganda, can't change people's fundamental personalities?

Don’t be silly we can pick and choose what influences people and what doesn’t
