But this is why clubs are supposed to have Sporting Directors now to oversee a whole vision. Managers will only ever put their best interests at the forefront of the decisions and Faes and Vestegaard are our best centre backs. 

 

We really do need to be including him in at least the squad though. 

 

I think @Gamble92 nails it in those first two sentences.

 

Can't blame managers for taking a short term view with our recent history, and there's a lack of strategic direction from the top.

 

Whatever we all think of Rudkin he's not stupid, he will be very aware of the contract situation with Nelson but he seems to be putting his head in the sand and hoping things will just work out somehow.

Enjoy listening to Rick. I'm happy to give Nelson a run but in the place of Vestergaard. Vesty is doing well this season but he is not the answer, he should have been given away so that Marti can't choose him. Seems people have been fooled that a CB 's most important quality must be passing. NO! NO! NO! NO! A CB needs to be able to defend and most of all be able to head a ball. However it's the lack of Page and even more so Aluko  in the squad that worries me. I NEVER want to see Reid and I'd prefer Page over Ayew at 10 or as backup to Ramsey. Aluko looked class in pre-season and the end of last year. I'd have him in any defensive position in our team.

 

Midfield is a mess. Bouba has always been terrible and shouldn't be in the team. Winks is great at some things but he isn't a good DM because he doesn't defend well and even his great passes he always gives up a good chance every match. As our DM it needs to be either Hamza or maybe Nelson as DM instead of defenders. JJ should be the other midfielder box to box.

 

In attack Carranza has to start. He showed signs of good movement and he can head. Daka and Ayew should never be our attacker. Daka should simply have been sold, even for a loss, in the summer.

I’ve been busy and only just catching up on the last pod (after Cov). How quickly perspective can change, everyone upbeat about Marti and the team just two games ago.

Definitely curious to hear your thoughts on Marti and whether Jake’s got any other scarily accurate predictions like Stephy’s form?

He's currently on toothbrush strike until Page comes back into the team.

Sounds like he’s had to have a police escort away from the Falkirk ground today, in a separate vehicle to his players, with a coat over his head like he’s on his way to court for a heinous crime.
Unsavoury of course, but reportedly he nearly came to us, and I need your musings as therapy for what might have been.
