Tend to agree, I think part of the issue with Barnes is that when he is good, he really stands out, but when he isn’t good……he really stands out too, he just does not seem to be ‘ok’

Funnily enough, I sit on the flank that he operates down second halves at our place and it irks me something rotten whenever he backs off or doesn’t take anyone on. Somebody near me last week said that they have it on pretty good authority that he doesn’t get on with BR very well and he’s instructed not to drive at the full back and back off. 1

Think it'll take a bit more than that, but he's only got 18 months left on his contract. Will probably sign a new deal there.

Maybe a better comparison is Marc then, who is the opposite in as much as he always gives high effort and rarely stinks out the place but rarely sets the world alight, Harvey, the opposite, death (by boredom) or glory

Well yes I am prepared to accept it. We are a better team with him in it. One of our major during threats either scoring himself or assisting. So I'm prepared to accept his form will fluctuate. 1

Very interested and hopeful to see what the presence of Tete could do for Barnes, in respect that it may alleviate some of the pressure

What I found particularly interesting about the article was it suggested Leeds didn’t reject it out of hand. If they wanted to really keep him, they would have said no quickly. Maybe explains why they’ve gone for McKennie as read Harrison is being played more centrally recently.
UHDrive Posted 28 January 2023 Posted 28 January 2023 Would Harrison be bought in for more of an ACM role thats been mentioned on here for that position we're looking to buy? He's quite good at it.

Guest nathan. Posted 28 January 2023 Posted 28 January 2023 Barnes needs a kick up the arse. Harrison would start every week on current form. Worth £20-£25m
FoxyPalace.com Posted 28 January 2023 Posted 28 January 2023 Harrisoniho - now we’re Brazilian baby ! 😂
Guest nathan. Posted 28 January 2023 Posted 28 January 2023 Barnes is a talented player but as thick as a plank. His decision making and ability to read his team mates is shocking. You cant fix stupid im afraid.

Barnes also scores and assists when he plays badly too, it's not mutually exclusive that when he plays well he racks up the goals and assists that are up there with the top wingers in the league. I can see why people are torn on Barnes as he's scruffy in a lot of his play and after several years of watching the same weaknesses it's hard to tolerate but I'm yet to see a good enough argument that would lead to him not playing week in, week out for us given his output. I see some fans argue that just because he brings 15-20 goal contributions a season that's not enough without contributing more to the teams general play and pointing to some other wingers with less tangible input in to a teams output. I find that impossible to agree with. 1
Ric Flair Posted 28 January 2023 Posted 28 January 2023 I could see Harrison being tempted as we'd chuck him more dough than Leeds will and at 26 he's in that age bracket that this next contract is probably money orientated more so than in his early 20's. Hmmmmm

Both have ability but are held back by their decision making and lack of awareness on the finer details required to be a top Premier League player.

For such a stupid footballer, he's certainly managed to be more intelligent than his team mates in the last 4 years as he's +11 on expected assists in that time. So he's created 11 chances that should have resulted in a goal that were naused up by teammates . In contrast his expected goals is pretty much what he has scored over the same period, which also goes against this notion he is horrendous at finishing. What both stats show is just how devastating he can be off his perceived weaker foot which can cause outliers in such numbers.
