A question as to whether this is us preparing for a post-Maddison world…

Yep I completely agree. Moving to 3 CMs without an AM is exactly what’s going on here.

Let's not turn our noses up at 60k a week, it is 30% less than the average wage at this club. So it is a cost saving not cos5 adding when you're removing 90k of wages.

If the club could do that across the board we would be in a much better place financially.

Honestly for that money I would personally prefer us to attempt to bring back Lookman if he would be willing to come back.

Proven to be able to cover both wings.

Considering how well he’s doing there I think Atalanta would laugh at us, sadly.

But you’re also paying a 20m (minimum transfer fee), so it’s not really cost saving.

Feels like Leeds wanna sell Harrison & get the cash  but are nervous about strengthening us so waiting to see if anyone else comes in for him. Could go to deadline day IF we don’t shift to another target. Gotta get that CB in first has to be a priority. Evans is bloody useless now and can’t rely on him anymore

Do you not think that's a naive view?

And if you bring a transfer fee into it the savings become even more anyway. A transfer fee is is spread over the life of a contract, so do a direct comparison with Perez 90k a week + 30 mil, Harrison 60k + 20 mil.

We have 8 players out of contract at the end of this season and important first team regulars within that number. If we are going to replace them we are going to have to spend money, there's is no way around it.

Any transfer fees and wages we add now are more than likely offset now by the players we will lose at the end of the season anyway

Not keen on signing players who are deemed surplus to requirements at Leeds, especially when we still.have key positions in our first XI that need urgent improvement ie GK and CB.

He isn't surplus to requirements, they want him to sign a new deal. Its a Maddison situation with 18m left and they know he's likely to leave on a free

This is a really good shout. Also, think they wanted to get the McKennie deal over the line as well before considering a sale.

Disagree on Evans - think he is still has something positive to offer but you're right, we can't rely on him playing consistently given his injury record.

Our last signing from Leeds was deemed to be surplus to requirements remember?

Harrison is a good player has the pace and trickery we need.

Matt Jones ?

Scrap that, kasper

I’d assumed that your reply was tongue in cheek.

I remember, when we signed Kasper, I looked in on a Leeds forum. They were all insisting that he wasn’t as good as Andy Lonergan

Yes I think he would cost a fair bit more than he would have in the summer. We passed on a no brainer there presumably because of cash flow. He might be willing to come back though as he fitted in well here and might prefer to be back in the premiership. Maybe our current league place would make him think twice though. Either way I can’t see anything happening in the few days left in the transfer window especially as he would cost about the same as Harrison and getting him out of Atlanta a more tricky exercise. Unless Maddison or Tielemans leave this window then CB has to be our priority.

At the end of the day, he's lightyears ahead of Albrighton, as was Lookman in fairness. Whilst I was initially not too sure about the signing, what Harrison is, is a high energy player. KDH has showed just how important that is, and we're a much weaker team when he doesn't play. I for one wouldn't be against the signing, and would also go a step further in hoping then we sign a central player with high energy also, as we really need a replacement for KDH, when he needs resting or gets injured.

I think actually, should be stay up and Leeds go down, we should be all over Brenden Aaronson. Whenever I watch them play, he's always full of energy and reminds me a lot of KDH.

Leeds Playing hardball for £30m or no deal and thry will keep till the summer window if he won't sign a contract.

He's looking for 70k a week which doesn't scare us.

We ain't getting him for £20m.

Still interested, bit of cat and mouse between us and Leeds as to who will budge on the fee it seems.

We have other options we are definitely in the market fir another attacker.

Ismaila Sarr?

Would a well run club like Brighton or Brentford be paying 20 million for Jack Harrison? I dont think so. Far more Everton type signing

thats true, Brighton paid less than £5m for Mitoma ffs, so i dunno why we'd spunk 20mil+ on Harrison

Cheers Fin. I imagine you can't say who else without it revealing your sources 🤔

Wonder who else we could be looking at?

Hope we move on then

For that kind of money even though he is out for a couple more weeks I would prefer we try and go for Joao Pedro

Man City are on for  20% of sell on fee so Leeds won't be taking £20m. They would rather take their chances on him signing a new contract or sell in the summer than sell for £20m now.

Agreed. I don't think he's worth £30m. I think João Pedro is injured at the moment though.

It does make you think though: if we're prepared to pay £20-£30m on a winger this window (Harrison, Gonzalez), and have only taken Tetê on loan as such...we must have more money to spend on a winger?
