Barnes needs a kick up the arse.

Harrison would start every week on current form.

Worth £20-£25m

Harrison that can barely get a game for Leeds?

Agreed. Not the most exciting signing but could defo see this happening.

For £20m it would be pretty impressive. I can't argue that price to be honest, even with the value you get on the continent. He tends to average around 10-15 goal contributions a season.

For such a stupid footballer, he's certainly managed to be more intelligent than his team mates in the last 4 years as he's +11 on expected assists in that time.

So he's created 11 chances that should have resulted in a goal that were naused up by teammates . In contrast his expected goals is pretty much what he has scored over the same period, which also goes against this notion he is horrendous at finishing.

What both stats show is just how devastating he can be off his perceived weaker foot which can cause outliers in such numbers.

If his final ball is poor does that still count as a chance for his team mate?

But it was Harrison who proved the catalyst for what turned out to be a comfortable victory on a day when transfer speculation continued to surround the 26-year-old, with reports Leeds have rejected a £20m bid from Leicester. The hug Marsch gave Harrison when he was substituted after a dominant display spoke volumes.

“We like him here and we want to keep him,” Marsch said. “I’m happy he was so sharp on the day. When things start circulating it’s never easy to focus on your job, but I’ve tried to have open dialogue and be very honest with him. He does like it here, it’s not like he’s itching to leave.”

If the ball was poor enough that the recipient were either forced into taking a difficult shot or unable to take a shot at all then that would be taken into account by the expected assists stat.

With Tete playing, perhaps Barnes won’t, or will we play tielemens as the DM.

Imagined they would play on opposing wings, but guess we will see!

Barnes also scores and assists when he plays badly too, it's not mutually exclusive that when he plays well he racks up the goals and assists that are up there with the top wingers in the league.

I can see why people are torn on Barnes as he's scruffy in a lot of his play and after several years of watching the same weaknesses it's hard to tolerate but I'm yet to see a good enough argument that would lead to him not playing week in, week out for us given his output.

I see some fans argue that just because he brings 15-20 goal contributions a season that's not enough without contributing more to the teams general play and pointing to some other wingers with less tangible input in to a teams output. I find that impossible to agree with.

Barnes numbers are beyond dispute,  but think my frustration (but what the f do I know) is that there is sometimes a pass, but he rarely takes it and always goes for the shot

Aware that this is a bit unfair, especially as we do not really shoot enough!

Not what I meant, we may play with Maddison on the left but not really in a winger role like he played on the right. With tielemens/KDH/Soumare

In other words, he’ll be at seagrave tomorrow

I share your frustrations totally, it seems baffling how that can't be improved and I challenge Brendan to do the same with Barnes as he has Maddison in recent years.

He doesn’t want to be there, no celebration after his goal screams come and get me. He’s gone from being a crucial player under Bielsa to a bit part player under Marsch. We will give him more £ and he’d easily get more game time for us.

No celebration after the goal screams "I'm not gonna run about like I've scored the winner in the world cup final after scoring against a side under threat of relegation from League One." And that's all.

Clearly truth in what's being reported then. That's not a "It's all rumours and there's no bid" kinda comment.

Feels a bit like they want him to stay, and he probably wants to stay. But he wants a big new contract and they don't want to pay it. So they're considering our offer so his agent can find out how much we'd pay in the hope he'll lower his demands.

But if it's a real interest from us, and for 20m I'd take him!

And if that’s true, maybe that’s why we are in this mess? Because we couldn’t afford to pay for additions at the start of the season? Why? Because we keep paying top dollar to very, very average players 😞🥴🤷

I don’t really get the problem here. He’s an upgrade on what we’ve got and with some of the prices being paid 15-20m for this guy would be just fine.
